How many have you all done before from a deep water start?

from a deep water start we have done 4 at a time.

the record in my bay/neighborhood is 10 skiiers and 2 boarders behind a cobalt 263, all kids age 7 to 20.

8 behind my parent's '95 Hydrodyne.

I'll have to scan the pics and post.

Behind a friends Maristar we had 7, each on something different

slalom skier
combo skier
trick skis
air chair

way back when we got 11 up behind a old 95 hp outboard, but we cheated and had a second boat helping pull the tow boat.

but we cheated and had a second boat helping pull the tow boat.

thats just called a competitive advantage:D. anyway i think the engines back then were much more powerful than they are now.

I'd be curious to know what the record is for a 1 inboard boat, deepwater start.

ski king: you got someone up on a toob? Congrats! lol

I will have to go through my pics, but at the 35th anni. a guy had a ps 190 with duel props. I believe he pulled 19 0r 20 skiers.

12-02-2009, 02:19 PM
I took part in a pull that ended up having 18 altogether but I was just a kid around 10 and I know there were at least a couple people on trick skis. I think they also had a second boat helping out to start.

We pulled 5 Slalom and 1 on doubles behind a '63 Rayson Craft flat bottom with a 421 Pontiac...Deep water start.

Oh, I didn't mention that the Pont was running on 7 cylinders.

My 91 pulled a 12 person pyramid back when it was a ski club/show team owners boat (my best friend), I heard it struggled with only 240hp and a powerslot.

12-02-2009, 02:44 PM
Pulled up 6 on wakeboards, only got to call it the "5man" though, cause 1 guy dropped off real quick (barely got out of the water and wiped out). This was behind the 190. One guy had to help my wife (the driver) hold onto the steering wheel, because it kept getting yanked out of her hands!

We've had 5 from slalom to barefoot behind the old '76. All youngsters, probably 16 or 17 and under.

I belonged to a ski club back in 1990 or so and one day - I'm not sure how it came about - we tried about 20 skiers behind a MC. Needless to say, it didn't happen. I had jumpers and could stand up for a brief second, but then sank down. Everyone else was dragging the whole time. To this day, I don't know how that pole didn't break.

My favorite question!

I've pulled 13 on big doubles from the deep behind my boat, a Matrix Sorrento with 225HO E-TEC outboard. There is more in it. On standard doubles, with the current prop 9 is about my limit but a prop change would increase that.

A Hydrodyne 3 by 225 E-TEC boat pulling 48 from the dock for a world record pyramid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08Rn4KKsc8M

The most we've ever tried was 120 skiers behind one boat, but the pole broke... www.skirecord.com In that photo I'm about 20 positions to the right from centre!

Seven behind my 87 TriStar 190. I'll try to find a photo to post. There was a Malibu on the lake that had eight up right after us, but they dock started.

8 skiers on combos behind my old 18' Challenger jet boat....454 chevy powered.
I wish I had pictures (maybe my mom does?)

Attached are photos of my boat pulling 12 skiers in March 2009. There were some kids in the photos as it was a ski show and we wanted to do it comfortably. We pulled 13 adults seeing what the boat would do before the show .

With practice and the right people, the boat should be good for 14-16 adults on big skis as it stands (21" 4 blade cyclone prop). With a 15" cyclone I'm not sure what it would pull, it would be interesting to find out!

I'd love to see photos of anybody that has done better with a single engined boat.

if my memory serves me correctly we had about 16 adult males do a deep water start behind a Hydrodine w/ 3-150's on it quite a few years back.

20 behind a twin rig hydrodyne, all from deep and most on standard slalom step-offs. We stepped off at 45 mph+ and had 18 ski through the show course. Main problem was, the "twinks" to consolidate the ropes broke the on the first try to get up out of the hole.

I had a 1983 S&S with Chrylser 440 that pulled up 5 barefoot deeps. Good thing we took a big breath before the pull, but we made it.

I am hoping the new PS190 with LQ9 can be good for 8 (albeit slow) barefoot deeps, if we can keep from knocking each other over. We'll see this summer!

Thanks for the picture! Looks great!

Who had the pic of the world record on here behind some ship or something? Sodar?

12-04-2009, 11:50 AM
Don't know if this is it, but here's a bunch

12-04-2009, 01:28 PM
I think that was a twin engine jet boat, that couldn't get out of the hole.

Wow looks great!

Hey thats us!

We tried in 2008 and 2009 and broke the spreader bar both times. Our boat has the grunt.

There was an attempt about 9 years ago in Seattle behind Klondike Express. It was a jet boat and didn't have the traction.

Details of the current 100 skier record are on the skirecord site.

Our bar won't be breaking this year! Keep a good eye on www.skirecord.com in January.

This is from labor day weekend family outing. We started out with two boats. There were 12 people up to begin with. We had a boat following to pick up skiers who fell. My brother-in-law got scolded by the DNR for not getting a show permit. He told the DNR guy it wasn't a show, but the DNR guy didn't believe him because several people had their ski team jump suits on. Heck they didn't even build a pyramid... it wasn't a show.

We pull a lot more people behind our hydrodyne that we own for the ski team.

In the mid '80's during a show we deepwater started a 5-4-2 pyramid with 2 flags skiers on both sides so a total of 15. This was behind a '83 MC slot. All but 2 of the skiers were below the age of 18.

I heard that the pylon almost touched the motorbox.

A few people at my lake have a grand plan that we need to pull 10 skiers from a deep water start. Will this be possible with the ps190 W/ LT-1? They are making the plan for my boat to do the pulling on July 4th 2010. i guessing that I will have to have a few ropes from each eye hook and the others from the pylon.

There was a post awhile back about show teams handle all the ropes. As I recall, you use a 2-3 short lines and then attach the individual ropes to these
