I have a 96 PS 205 that I bought this week that doesn't have a radio installed. I'm very familiar with car stereos but not with pulling a battery and ignition lead from the wires in the dash of a boat.
In order to save time, can anyone tell me which wires I need to use to get a battery and ignition lead? Also, how does the ACC switch on the dash beside the radio cover work with the stereo. The ACC switch on my 90 PS 190 turned on the radio. It was already wired when I bought it. Is this where I
Thank you.

You may also have cutouts under your upholstery for speakers.
With your hand just push in on the side panels in the spots you think speakers should be. You should feel them..

Might be too late responding, but installing a stereo in these boats is extremely simple, thanks to the good job MC does of labeling all the wires and providing the leads for you. I just (finally) replaced my old AM/FM/cassette with a CD receiver (fairly cheap JVC unit, but has removable faceplate and a wireless remote, not a marine unit, but neither was the 11 year old unit it replaced), and I had forgotten just how easy it was.
My unit required a wire that provided power even with the switch off (the wire was there) and a wire that was powered only by the switch. I used the ACC-2 switch for this wire, so I can turn the unit on and off with the ACC-2 switch without having to use the ignition switch. I have a small Sony amp mounted under the dash, and the rear 4 speakers run through this, but the front two speakers are only run by the radio.

These guys are right. Under the dash you should find a hot, ignition, and ground wraped in flex loom. They should be yellow, red, and black respectively and are usually labeled (under the flex loom sometimes). In my new 209 it had a multi-pin plug which was designed to plug into a stereo harness. If so just cut the plug off and use your own wiring.
