How often should you replace the anods on a saltwater series boat?

All information I have seen about anode replacement tells you to replace them when they are 50% gone. I have always used my boats in salt water but kept them on the trailer ashore. On my last boat, which I bought new, the anodes were still in good condition after six years, not even 10% gone. They only do their work when the boat is in the water. If your boat is kept moored in salt water then they will probably need replacing every one to two years. Just keep an eye on them to determine the erosion rate which depends on your circumstances. Hope that helps.
