I have a problrm with my rear seat being broken in the middle on my 96 PS205. The whole unit is no longer available from MasterCraft. I pulled the upholstery offand it is made of an aluminum honeycomb material. does anyone know where I can get this material to make a new one?

Take the seat to an upholstry shop. They have a varity of materials to make a new base with your skins. That aluminum honeycomb has caused a lot problems with the center floor section at the motor box hinges. I'm surprised the rear seat gave you a problem.

You are best off taking it to an uphostery shop or a boat repair shop. They should sell you what you need, or have it done for you.

One good thing about the old design is that it supported the seat all the way across. It had its drawbacks, but broken seats, fortunately, wasn't one of them.

When I purchased my 96 prostar 190 last year the rear seat had been removed by the previous owner. He told me that it was broken in the middle from his kids jumping into the boat off of the dock. Some people use the area under the seat for storage but that was not one of my concerns so I made a support under the seat of treated wood and covered it in matching carpet. It looks great works even better.

it seems like Airjunky made a similiar setup with his boat.

here's the link, but since the forum "upgrade" I don't see the pictures he posted...
but some good info here

Yea, heres a shot with the seat in the up position. I can't find the pics I took of the riser I made but can take some more if someone is interested.
It's basically 2 pieces of exterior plywood with 2x4s between them, then carpeted with indoor/outdoor carpet. The space is large enough I can get 2 of the big 2' long bumpers in there, plus a spare prop, tools, mooring lines, etc.

BTW, I think if I needed to repair the base of the seat, I'd use something other than the honeycomb material MC used at the factory. It didn't work the first time so it's likely to fail again. Google for Tap Plastics & ask them how much a sheet of 5/8" or 3/4" plastic would run you.

Airjunky, I would like to see the pics of the platform you made. Thats a great idea. You just made yourself a great sundeck. I like it!
