View Full Version : Need Some Opinions from Experts on Cosmetic Issue

I have an 07 MS230 like the one pictured below. Is it just me, or does it seem redundant and possibly even detracting from the overall look of the boat for it to say MasterCraft in 2 places on each side of the boat?

I know this is a frivolous issue, but I fear it will bother me all winter. In the spring I'll be in the boat and can't see any of this myself, but for the mean-time, every time I step into the garage, I ask myself the question. If I was to remove one of them, which would you remove?

Expert opinions welcome! (or feel free to tell me I'm just obsessing over something that doesn't really matter).:)

personally when it comes to graphics i think less is more, which is why I removed all of them from my boat and will be adding just a small Mastercraft decal similar to the decal on towards the transom in the picture. but again just my personal opinion. I know lots of people who prefer lots of graphics all over.

I'm with W2W, in my opinion less is more. I think just the decals on each side towards the transom look great, but it's only my opinion. Too many graphics take away from the overall appearance

Kind of a personal choice. On the one hand, it's kind of a classic Mastercraft signature to have it large on the side.

I would look nice and clean with just the smaller logo near the stern, tho'.

I think I like the idea of the whole 'traditional' thang. Classic Mastercraft side logo. That's would be vote. Can't go wrong either way.

I felt the same way after I pulled the (ick) x graphic off the side and replaced it with the traditional Mastercraft.

Added a small graphic to the stern to balance the look.

I don't know where you added the graphics but I sure like the picture!!!!!!

I think it is really cool how joe has one side graphic different than the other.

Dreddy,

I personally would take off the second smaller graphic.

If you are in a good money situation, I would remove both, and put a customized smaller one in the center.

I think the classic, lesser graphics are appealing right now to me.

it could be the picture, but it almost looks like the larger graphic is too far forward

i think you could go either way. have someone photoshop it for you.

I would agree, photoshop it, with your actual boat, with the cover off. Then if you are still not sure, post both.

i have some mediocre photoshop skills, but i gave it a shot

the maristar without the big decal is a classy look.

I'm confused. Should I be in favor of no graphics?

Oh! You're still talking about the boat. I'd go with one or the other. Definitely not both. I have always preferred the old school Mastercraft font with the star in the "C", so I'd remove both and replace them with one old school decal.

I like the traditional MC decals on the side of the boat. I put the '05 TT one on my 09 X14 and removed the factory decal. BUT, if I continue to lose these drip molded letters as they tend to fall off, I'll go the no graphic look. Also a good look IMO. I'll probably put the small "chrome" one on the sides near the transom like in the OP.

I dunno, kind of gives it the classic Bayliner look, I'd stick with the big ones, then there is no question as to what breed it is.

You guys are awesome! I'm just getting back to see if anyone had even looked at the question and already some good input, pics and even photoshopping, which by the way I'm liking after seeing it this morning. It seems that either going the full, stickered and pimped out X-style or the simple, understated and classy look of the stripped-down Maristar look best with these boats.

What does it take to cleanly get those stickers off the gel-coat without damage? Will products like Goof-off ruin gel-coat?

I know what I'll do! I'll search the forum.

Thanks all

Cleaner is better.

If it were me, I would remove the decal closer to the transom. I agree with most, bigger is better. I want others in the competition knowing what is coming. So they can run the opposite way. Be proud of what you own and ride, leave the big MASTERCRAFT on the side and remove the little one. IMHO. Good luck.

leave the big one is what I think. Otherwise it is going to be to much of a sportsboat (bayliner) kind of boat....

BUT IT YOUR BOAT SO YOUR CHOICE GOOD LUCK!

What does it take to cleanly get those stickers off the gel-coat without damage?

Try a Heat Gun or hair dryer (on the hottest setting) before using chemicals.

Just use a hair dryer. A heat gun could actually get too hot.

It's an easy job.

Definitely keep the big one (if you're choosing between the two). I had mine like that for a little bit, but had the X2 fabricated to balance out the look.

I like both, but if you're going to get rid of one, lose the small one

Yup, I'd keep the larger graphic, get rid of the smaller one.

To have two is too many.

Yet another vote for the larger graphic.

Remove the smaller one and please send me the M and A. Someone tried to peal those letters off my trialer last year while it was in the parking lot and we were on the lake.

Isn't that Skeeler's old X2? When he had it it definitely had bigger ones on the sun deck, but I think they were after market;)
