It looks like I need to clean out my fuel tank as buildup is taking over my fuel system. What is the best way to do this? Can one do this without removing the tank or must the tank be removed? Also, what do you use to clean it? I am leary about putting water in there even if the tank is emptied well. Need help!

What is in the tank? Can you drain it and blow it out, or do you need to clean it?

I don;t know I just know it's clogging the fuel draw line. When I took the filter off the boat there was a large layer of ash type material. It almost looked like paint chips but when you touched it, it just decenigrated like ash. I have been told that's what happens to fuel when it sits in a plastic container after a while. Worse part about this whole thing is I just filled the tank plumb full!

Yes, I did. However I wonder how much care this thing ever got from the PO. It was a mess when I got it. Up until now I never ran it low on fuel so that might have been why I didn't get this problem until now.
