I have a 96 PS 205 and need some suggestions on where to mount the transducer and also how to run the wires from the depth finder gauge to the transducer.

As far as where the transducer goes, I was thinking of putting it beside the drain plug. It worked well there on my 90 PS 190. How far back in the boat should the transducer be anyways?

Thank you.

On my 2002 PS197, I placed the transducer behind the motor and to the left of where the drive shaft goes through the hull (left side when looking from front to back of boat). Take a small die grinder and grind the hull surface to rough it up, then sand the surface of the transducer. My dealer advised me to use JB Weld to adhere it, and it worked great. As for running the wire, get an electricians fish tape, and start up by the drivers feet and feed it back through the opening, into the engine compartment, then attach (tape) the wire to the end and pull back through.
Hope this helps.

I placed my transducer just about opposite the raw water pickup, starboard side (93 PS 205) then ran the wire back and under the gas tank then up behind the gas tank to the gunwale. From that point I ran it forward through the conduit that is in place under the gunwale to under the dash and away you go

On my '97 205 I placed the transducer just forward of the blower fan on the drivers side under the engine. Just off the centerline of the boat. Works great at all speeds. I wouldn't go any farther forward than that. I used two part epoxy to attach it.

Just curious. Did you go forward with the wire from that point?? I put my ducer farther back than you did and went back with the wire first.

Went forward, and that is a tough route to fish. I never even thought of going rearwards-great idea.

BriEOD suggested that route before I even looked for one. It made sense so that’s the way I ran it. Your probably about 3 feet forward with your transducer so I’m not sure you would have had enough cable to go back first.
