i have not done this in many years but i did in my early 20s . i am 34 now. it was a charity event that you gave a donation and were lucky to ski in frigid waters of the mississippi river.lol. i googled and cant find anything after 2007. does anybody know if this is still a function for memphis,tn? it was always done in january and was a st. jude benefit.

I rode in it in '07 & I think that was the last time it was held. Memphis Boat Center usually provides the boat & I know that didn't happen last year. I would think if it gets held again they would be giving the folks that rode in it in '07 a call.

There is going to be a 2010 Memphis Ski Freeze at Mud Island on New Year's Day, starts at 10:30am. The ski freeze did happen in 2009 but alot of people were confused because it was relocated to opposite side of Mud Island. All you need to do to participate is show up with your equipment and make a donation to Dream Factory. Also, we have a facebook link:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Memphis-Ski-Freeze/356253115012?ref=n
We look forward to seeing you if you can make it.

Both me and my son have done this for the last 3 years! This year he will go it alone as I will be recovering fron surgery. The event will be on the 16th this year and I hope to see a few of you out there!

My wife and I will be celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary on New Year's Day and would like to attend this Memphis Freeze event. We were thinking of leaving Thursday and staying at a nearby hotel. Does anyone know of one close to the event that would be good to visit?

the event is always at mud island from memory and that is downtown. there are several nice hotels within walking distance from mud island. just google hotels downtown memphis. the peabody is the hotel featured in the movie "the firm". it is nostalgic memphis and they have the ducks that live on the roof. everyday the ducks come down the elevator into the lobby to swim in the fountain. if you are into that sort of thing. there are better modern hotels also.
