Has anyone skied the HO triumph, I have a Mid SX Connelly now. It's easy to get up on and rides Ok but would like to go to something that turns a little more. I only free ski. We have a 67 inch HO Nitro that my wife uses. I'm 6'3", 190lbs and don't like the fight to get up and the speed I need to stay up. Looking at a 69" triumph, my dealer has a pretty good end of season deal on one. Input apprectiated

I have a 67" Triumph (6'1", 185), I like it alot. I use it mostly in open water when it gets a little rougher out or at the end of the day for that last run. Its very stable and predictable, but still turns very well. It can slide out a bit in the turns at higher speeds (34+) if you really push it, but that's not really its intended role. I have friends that have learned to slalom on this ski, and it is fine in the course at lower speeds and longer lines. If its glass out and I am skiing over 34mph I am usually on my D3, but anything less than that and I will grab the HO. Its a great mid level ski that you can adjust to quickly and use well into the advanced/intermediate range. If the price is right, I'd grab one. Demo if its not too late, or wait to try it in the spring and sell it if you hate it (you won't).

I have a 67" Triumph (5'11", 170). I have been very happy with it. I'm a recreational skier...have made it through the course a couple times. We free ski 32-34 mph most of the time, couldn't be happier with this ski. The only thing that I'm not so fond of and I'm not sure if it really makes any difference is that I feel that the ski is kinda heavy. Additionally, for what it's worth, I've used the HO Venom boots on mine. 2nd for what its worth, if you can get a smokin' deal on one, GO FOR IT! :-) Good luck!

I bought the Triumph last year and am very dissappointed. It seems very slow and takes a lot to turn it. I moved from an older VTX. This year I was skiing 32 - 34MPH at 15 off.
I would ski it before I bought it ... I will be upgrading this year.

Buy a system 8. You can get them cheap now through wiley's and perf ski.
I bought a 69 in system 8 in the spring for $400 with double wiley's

IMHO going from his connelly to a system 8 would be too drastic of a change, especially if he his trying to keep his speed down as (I believe) he stated. System 8's are nice skis, but they require a bit of speed to keep them up on the water.

I think you will be happy with the Triumph, but I think you will be happier with a Radar Senate. I was coming from an OBrien Synchro and the Senate is awesome. I have Radar Rail boots.

I have a HO Vengeance and I like it. I was looking at the triumph, but the guys at Performance Ski told meI would be happier with the Vengeance.

What type of ski is a vengeance? I've never heard of it; what types of speeds is it built for?
I was that happy with performance's advice; I'm 200 lbs and built like a linebacker, I wanted the 68.5, and they really pushed for me to get the 69.5. I took their advice, and the ski doesn't turn as hard as I would have wanted. I know I should have tested it out before buying, but I skied a couple times on a 67.5 and thought it was short. It's rough being me.
This spring it's going to be fin setting testing time for me!

its built for 32-34 mph. it used to be a ASX i think. a little wider than the system 8 but not even close to a triumph

The Vengence isn't really close to the System 8, which is WAY too much ski for the OP.
The Vengence would be a fine choice.
