Trick Ski 101

So I was just happy to win the silly Ebay auction...the trick ski I won is 42 inches (not to mention it is very 80's) I weigh 175 lbs. I am gonna go out on a ledge here and suggest that I need a larger trick ski?

Anybody have helpful hints they would be willing to share with a beginner? :)

Not that I'm any good, but the ski does seem small depending on the width, and charts are hard to find, even for the new ones.

I just use mine a few times a summer to screw about, so no real hints on the use.

Find a patient driver! 42 will be ok for now, but I'm 160# an looking for a 43 because I ride fairly aggressive.

Deeping up on a slalom trick took me a while to figure out... be patient. The thing just does not want to track until you get a little speed going. I spend most of my time on a pair of 44" Conelly's but do goof around on one occaisionally still. I deep up with both feet on the ski and find it helpful to let the edge of the ski rest against the rope for the first few seconds. It just seems to help hold the ski steady...

I don't know if you are one to drag a foot during a deep up or not, I never could figure out how to do that start on a slalom ski any way.

I have noticed that I drink more water on the start if I am directly behind the boat versus off to one side or the other. Might want to goof around with putting the rope out to a 45 degree angle or so. I think the action of the boat climbing out to plane has a tendency to lift the skier also. Sometimes when I start in this way my face does not even get wet!

Afraid I must agree with you about that one. Gave it a spin today. Got out of the water ok. But that is one slippery ski. Pretty much all I could figure out to do is to swerve back and forth across the wakes. When I tried to to that tricky stuff, I face planted, again, and again.

No picks, just me and my daughter. But I am done with the trick ski. It'll look good on the family room wall.:o

Hee Hee, forgot to mention that you WILL get pretty good at the deep up on a slalom trick ski...

I don't trick ski but I was recently in the boat pulling Cory and Adam Pickos. I was truly amazed. It must take a LOT of practice to do the stuff I saw done.
