A while back there was a post of a guy that had his platform break off, due to it flopping and wearing the pin holes.
I uplaoded a drawing of the way I fixed mine so it doesn't rattle.
I now have pictures.
I drilled and tapped a hole for a 1/4" stainless bolt. The picture doesnt show it, but I have since added a lock nut to keep it tight.
There is one bolt on each mount.

Perhaps a stupid question but it looks like you have to loosen or remove these bolts to take the platform off? Is that true? I have often wondered about those "little pins" holding my platform on.
Thanks

Steve,
The pins don’t actually need to do anything except keep the platform from bouncing off..

Yes you have to loosen the screws to remove the swim platform.
As markP says. The pins only keep it from coming out of the bracket.
I use a lot of ballast to wakeboard. when my ballast is full my swim platform is under water when sitting still. If a boat goes by or when I come to a stop, the platform would rattle very bad. Now there is no movement.
I hardly ever take the platform off, so the bolts are no problem at all.
Great idea, next time mine is out of the water I will do the same. The noise can drive you crazy.
One of my pins fell out the other day. I noticed that my platform was not sitting straight. I would have hated it falling off as I was cruising down the road. I once had one fall off a 91 190 during a show. It was funny as heck(since it was not my boat). I just added the transom protector to mine. It's pretty cool!

Yea, I have a 2" tall spacer under my swimstep on each side to get it back up above the water. And then I slide a stainless shim down between the brackets to get rid of the rattling. Seems to work fine now.
Air Junky,
My sister and her husband are Sky Ski fanatics and ski Baker Lake all the time, how far is Liberty Lake from the Bellingham area?

The bolt shaft just presses against the fiberglass? Looks good, but I wonder if it will break through?

I've seen someone do simliar but drilled and tapped the bracket and used a stainless thumb screw, no tools required for removal and has no pressure on the gelcoat.

Hey Wes,
Liberty is near Spokane, right near the WA / ID border. I haven't skied in the Bellingham area for some time.
Tell them to join us at the NW Flyin this summer!

The bolt shaft actually is pressing against the aluminum peice that is mounted to the fiberglass.

Right on, Mike. Glad to hear it & hope to ski ya there! If your ever on the east side, look me up & we'll get out on the boat for some frequent flyer miles.
I am sure they are going to be there, along with some of the guys from Kelowna. Since you're so near us here in Kelowna you are going to have to visit this summer.
Air Junky,
Checking the dates a little closer, that week we are all going to be Osoyoos that week.
