one of my springs broke on my boat trailor, i have changed both of them and the boat trailor looks a few inches taller.my ? is how many years do i wait before i change the new springs.

Spring beakage is pretty rare and I don't think you can "predict" when it will happen again. If you just installed new springs, I would say you are set for another 15+ years.

Good job on getting it a little higher. Sure helps with the scraping in the back! I did the same thing and also added some wheels off the back. Saves our new driveway, that's for sure!

You can usually tell when leaf springs are in need of replacement because the shackles point toward the rear of the boat, not the front. When your trailer drives over an obstacle the springs compress and the shackles point toward the rear. After you clear the obstacle, they rebound to their normal position. If the springs are sagging so much that the shackles are pointed to the rear, they are worn out.
