I am seeing more water in my boat than normal. Does anyone have any idea where the water can be coming in from? I did notice some clear glue like stuff around the rudder area on the inside of the boat. Any ideas ?????

Your stuffing box may need to be tightened or repacked completely. With the boat in the water and the engine in gear, note the rate water is dripping from the large nut on the prop shaft near where the shaft goes through the hull. It should only be a drop every 5-10 seconds. This is the most common cause of excessive water in the bilge, especially if it is a problem that has gotten worse over time.

Your rudder port may need to be greased. This is an annual maintenance item.

Water could be leaking in from the rub rail where the deck and hull are joined together. Usual fix for this is a running a small bead of clear silicone around the bottom of the rub rail.

If you can't determine where the water is coming from, you can always fill the bilge with water on your driveway and see if it leaks out anywhere.

The rudder requires a lot of pressure to be greased. If you have one of those hand squeze ones it may not work. The longer handle Lever grease gun is the best...

Make sure you also get a 12 to 16" flexible hose in addition to the one that comes with the gun...

and for the leaks, you may need this
