Scarpa sells a neck brace that is very good but not the most comfortable thing to wear.
I have used it for learning back deeps...it does make a difference if you take some hard falls.
Would I suggest it for other water sports...No.

I would like to see the Lake Elmo brace on a wearer. Looks like it could choke you.....

I purchased the one from Chuck at BFC and I really like it. It works as advertised and I would recommend getting a brace especially if you are considering doing any footing or even shoe skiing backwards. I used to get really tired of waking up with a sore neck the day after falling during backwards shoe ski runs, not any more...
Ya, sure it's a little uncomfortable when you first put it on but I don't even notice it when up and skiing around.
