Where did you find that Zip Sled?!? That's the kind I learned on. Very tough to come by these days. My father in law has one of the old blue ones.

I'd imagine you could probably use any sort of snow sled couldn't you?
I never thought of doing that :D

I've done a bit of searching and did find a snow sled that might have worked. But basically, I'll probably end up using my father in law's when it's my kid's turn. If you happen to run across any snow sleds that might work, don't hesitate to email them to me or post them here.
What we rode were plastic, handles on the side, rails on the bottom so you could steer it, tow rope looped through the front sides, and a handle hooked into the base.

Well, its the wrong season for that, especially here in Nebraska.. its 91 and starting to get humid.. our trademark!
The sled I have had for probably 10 years, wouldn't work for what you want to do tho.

I found some last year, but they had stopped making them.
Eurosled or something.

Jim learned to ski on this sled when he was 4 years old so I have no idea where you could buy one. This orange sled is called a Bob Sled. I'm not sure a regular snow sled would work because it doesn't have the grooves on the bottom.

Nice picture! Great to see them out there that young.
Ok, you got a Jimmer, a MrsJimmer and a Jimette. Is the next addition going to be a lil Jimmer or Jimette II?
Mrs.Jimmer - That is a great picture! Did she like it? I wish we had our boat when my two were that young. Would have made the teaching easier to start younger. I learned on one of those things too. It was a blue one.

She was playing with the sled on the dock and when we put it in the boat she was very upset. She couldn't wait to get on it in the water. She giggled and had a big grin! She stayed on for a few minutes and we were able to get her to go again the next day. BTW - Jimmette's name is actually Lilly :)

The blue one is "Admiral Zip Sled." That's the one we have now.

Start thread jack... :)
East tx skier - I didn't think they still made those. Where did you find it? I think the family one (nic-named the "greased pig") got sold years ago with the old i/o. Bummer.
:) ...end threadjack.

You cannot buy them new anymore. This thing is waaaaay old. It's got a few epoxy patches on it. I'm always on the lookout for them if anyone wants to unload theres.
end re-threadjack.

I have a old waterski magazine at home that has the picture of him skiing at that age on the cover, I will try to see if I can find and post it.
Watching the kids ski, etc, makes it all worth while
