I've got an LY6 motor in my xstar and i'm going to change the oil myself because it's a ways to the dealer. I've got the oil, is there a cross referance fram oil filter I can use for this motor? Or another good oil filter to use? Thanks

What ever you do don't buy the fram filter. Go to your normal service center and find what filter number they use for your boat (or maybe someone here can help) then go to a napa auto parts and get the wix filter.

Ya not a fram, If anyone else comes up with this question. There is and AC Delco filter that crosses over which is PF46, the stock filter i believe is a PZ3 Filter.

Does anyone know the best oil filter for the ly6...why not a Fram? Has the technology improved over the years...Synthetic or not?

The wix filter is a 51069. I was told by Napa that the Napa Gold is actually this same filter. I believe this is a high quality filter. I agree to stay away from Fram. I have a friend whose engine was ruined due to the filter media from a Fram filter somehow being released into the engine. True story... I use conventional 15w-40.

Why not Fram...many fram filters use card board in their construction.

now here's the wix/napa filter....

K&N if your not a believer yet...

I will never use Fram again!!! I know some people don't have issues with Fram - but for a couple of extra bucks...go wix/napa

I use the Napa gold cross referenced to the PZ3 for my LQ9. I run sythentic amsoil but I don't think that matters for filter choice.

Ac delco pf454 works just changed mine and used pennzoil 15-40 marine oil like recommended.
