I have a 197 with a single axle trailer. What are your thoughts on towing with a V6 TRD Tacoma?? Most of my towing is under 10 miles but what if I want longer trips?

I used to drive my 84 nautique which was most likely a lot heavier boat with my Toyota Sienna. I did not have breaks on the trailer. I would think that 10 miles would be fine for your 197, but longer trips with hills could be a problem - do you have a transmission cooler, if not I would suggest having one. Also what is the vehicle rated to tow?

No worries. Brother in law pulls his 190 around with a V6 tacoma TRD hundreds of miles all the time. As long as you have a towing package (trans cooler) you'll be fine for short trips. Only place it struggles a little is in the hills of TN on the way to Norris and even at that as long as you're not in a hurry you'll be good to go.

We have pulled our 209/X9 with an 05' 4Runner (V6) for the past 3 years and it has worked very well. Fortunately, we are only 6 miles from the lake; however, the combo has also made a 700 mile trip without any problems. Best of luck!

I'd be more concerned with stopping.
Do you have surge brakes??

I used to pull my 190 with a Ford Ranger with the 4.0L all the time. Pulled fine.

I pull my maristar no problem with a 06 Frontier which has similar capacities. It rides on a tandem axle. I'm around 5k lbs with trailer/boat/gas tank/people on board and pull about 25 miles each way NO problems.

You're gonna need a diesel

I would think your 197 on a single axle would weigh pretty close to my rig. My buddy's TRD Tacoma tows it no problem.

I do have brakes on the trailer. I really like the Tacoma and a fullsize just takes up so much room. I think that is what I will get.

Thanks for the input
