Was anyone else at Carlos 'n Charlie's this past Saturday? They had a couple of local bands as well as Better than Ezra and Collective Soul. That was one amazing party! If you missed it -- you MISSED OUT!!! We parked at the dock; listened to live music and got more of a show than we paid for.

you should have told me you where going down to Austin. We would have been there. I graduated from Southwest Texas in San Marcos and my husband from UT. We are always looking for a reason to go.

Sorry I missed the fun.

No, but went to Devil's cove, does that count?

We were at Devil's Cove for a few hours Saturday. Had to head over early to get a parking spot at Carlos 'n Charlie's though. By 4 pm there was no more parking available. It could have been properly renamed Devil's Cove II with all the action there Saturday.

What boat were you in at Devil's Cove? I'm sure we saw you if you were there early on in the afternoon.

As for the pictures -- we don't have a digital camera, but my wife got some great shots with her 35 mm. We'll have to get them developed and figure out a way to scan them to share with all.

I believe it was Willie that wrote, when I die, I hope they bury me on the pedernales under that big oak tree.....

Travis is one of my favorite places on earth
I am going with an old avatar after reading this thread!

There is no denying that Travis is amazing. It's flippin' huge too. It'd take almost a tank of gas to get from Carlos 'n Charlies to the Pedernalles -- but well worth it for the riding conditions. I LOVE IT!!!

ya, it'd be a long, expensive haul in an inboard but still worth it
we have done the trailer thing when staying at lakeway to ski the pedernales

We were there in the afternoon to late afternoon. Stayed until we ran out of beer, I usually put in at Pace Bend, which means we had quite a drive back to the ramp. We were hitched up to a bunch of I/O's, you couldn't miss the lone black and grey S&S. We were in one of the front groups. Me and my buddy were wife free for the afternoon, so it was that much more "special" as far as viewing pleasure was concerned. Didn't have to worry about getting hit in the arm for "not paying attention!" It was fun.

Me and my buddy WERE NOT wife free. So we endured a few of those "hit in the arm" moments; my friend a little more than me -- he's just so obvious about it. We still found a way to enjoy the day though.

I've never had a bad day when we end up in Devil's cove. There are always sites to see and barely there(sometimes not there at all) bathing suits to last a life time.

My friend and I were talking about that exact thing last night in our weekend recap. We will be talking about this weekend for a long time!

I still have a hard time saying Travis and Pedernales in the same breath. I know they're connected, but two more different bodies of water from a watersports perspective there could not be. Hope to get out on the Pedernales again soon. Travis is great for crusing if you've got a big boat. Couldn't ever find a decent ski spot on the big lake though (and we looked).

When I was in school in Austin, I used to date a girl with one of the most amazing houses in Lakeway. I think I still have the key around here somewhere.

yeah, Travis is not good for skiing/boarding. It is best left for observation and general lake fun. Perdernales, is without a doubt, one of the best places for skiing/boarding. It is nice though when you put in at Pace Bend, you do have the option of going to Travis or up the river, depending on what suits your fancy.

That's why it's one of my favorite places. You can do so much there

This is one of my favorite camping spots also. We go to Pace Bend and camp, normally we leave the kids at home for this trip. We have a routine when we go kid less . Frozen drinks for breakfast, beer and shots for lunch, and Rum for supper. We tube a little but mostly we float, drink and stay out of the way of the big boats. I have only enjoyed wakeboarding one time on Travis and it was 2am in the morning and the Lake was slick as glass. My buddy and I figured if we could back the boat down that long narrow steep ramp, put my boat in and keep my truck dry then we ware sober enough to ski. Man did we have fun! The only hazard we had was channel markers. :eek3: Boy were they hard to see. On our next trip we plan on ridding the Perd. just to see what all the hub-bub is about.

Ric,

That's rare that you were able to that, consider yourself lucky.

Travis is the only place I really enjoy being on choppy water -- all because of everything else going on. The socializing makes it worth while. I'd still rather be riding though.
