I recently purchased a 1995 Formula One Firebird with a great running LT1. Thinking about swapping it out for my 351 Ford but not real sure what changes I will be confronted with. Has anyone attempted this or have some input I would really be thankful for information you all could provide.

Biggest issue I could see would be getting a standalone ECM for the engine. Places like AZ Speed and Marine could make you one...for about $1500. Add raw water pump, 2nd thermostat, new exhaust manifolds, bellhousing adaptor or different trans(?). JimN or engine nut would be of more help than I.

Your best better would be to find a lt1 in a trashed boat, that way you can rob the everything, ecm, harness, manifolds/risers and etc, to piece it out would problably not worth the time and hassle.
I didn't see anything about what make/model of boat, either. MC programs the ECM based on the load presented by the boat, not a generic "It weighs about 3200 pounds and has a flat bottom" kind of thing. Since the hull changed in about '94, a program for the earlier hulls doesn't exist, although trying it with the '94 Prostar checksum might work.

After much research, the LT1 is being prepped for a future Hot Rod project. As for the 351W, It will get lots of loving care after ski season and continue service as designed.
