If anyone is interested, I am trying to sell my mastercraft that I just bought in July. It has ended up being more work than I can handle.
It is a 92 MC Prostar 205 w/ the open bow. White with blue/teal accents. 676 hours on the boat and supposedly 34 hours on new crate motor. Motor is currently leaking small amount of water into the oil causing a loss of power. I have already replaced the carb, flushed the trans, and changed the oil and filter. Boat will need new lower exhaust manifolds as the old ones were epoxied by the previous owner. Mechanic thinks the water is entering the motor through either the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, or possibly a leaking head gasket.
I am out of money and out of time. I am taking a pretty big loss after all that has been put into the boat. If you are interested, or know someone who is, please send me a PM. I will gladly give out my phone number if you want to talk to me about the boat, just message me.
I am asking $7800 for the boat, with an excellent trailer and a cover. I live in Lexington, NC. Thanks guys!

Post up some pictures and put it in the for sale section. Good luck, shame to hear that the previous owner screwed you.

Water in the oil is almost always a head gasket, which would also explain the loss in power due to lost compression. If you know how to mechanic, its about a $75 job in parts (or less if you get el cheapo gaskets), its just labor intensive.
If you do sell it, someone is going to get a steal on a 205 for less than $8K including fixing it.

Even if its the exhaust manifolds like I just had to replace, its not that much. Since the PO epoxied them before, I would sure think that is likely. Either way, you're almost there. Hate to see a good boat go away.

We hate to sell it to, but we are way over budget. If someone doesnt take it, I will probably try working on it over the winter as funds become available. I feel pretty confident at this point that replacing the head gasket and the manifolds will fix the problem...
Everyone that has called and has looked at it, keeps giving me the "well you know it could be a crack in the block, which will cost about $3K to $4K to fix, so I will give you $5K for it". Honestly, I am really tired of being low balled and one person has already pulled a fast one on me, so we def. are not going to let that happen again by letting this boat go that cheap, not to mention we have a loan to pay off to!
Anyways, enough gripping, here are some pics. Try the link, if it doesnt work, someone PM me and I will try posting some again. Thanks again guys for the support!

I wonder if I can get a "quick Change" motor mount kit? For that price I can switch my motor out on wekends for family time! Nice looking ride, sad story but I am sure it will remain here!;)

If anyone is interested, I have reduced the price from $7800 to $7500. I have the boat on Ebay now with a buy it now, but if you are interested in it, I can pull the ad.
Also, there are now pictures added to my profile in an album that you guys can view to get a little better idea of what you are looking at.
Someone better snag this one before my wife has a complete melt down on me and I end up permanently in the dog house!

Sorry about your sale. Things will turn around for you. If you sell it, will you be getting another MasterCraft? or even another boat?

I dont know if we will be getting another boat or not. My wife and I would both really like to get back into camping so we were looking at pop up campers. As for the mastercraft, I hope one day I will own another one, but probably wont be anytime soon. I want a good boat, one with the open bow, and NO ISSUES! so we will probably hold off on buying another mastercraft when we can afford to get a newer style one.
I hope our luck turns around pretty quick though because it is coming close to not having any time left this year to sell this thing and then we are stuck all winter with a boat sitting in our yard that isnt usable that we are paying monthly payments on! Ugggg, so frustrating.
Anyways, let me know if any of you guys are interested. And if you know someone that is interested and isnt a member on here, I will still give them a little discount as long as they promise to become a member on here after they buy the boat! Oh and they have to keep me up to date on how things go with. I would really like to see someone get some good use out of this boat!
Take care guys!
