About 4 months ago I purchased a 1995 PS 205. Since owning the boat I have noticed a few things that have me worried about the structural integrity of the boat. On rough water dash area and glove box area will shake pretty violently. I have gone through to tighten the screws around the spotter seat to the floor and the ones for the dashboard side. However I have noticed that a few of the screws are stripped in the floor and will only get moderately tight. Does anyone else have problems with the dash shaking in rough water? Or is this a normal operation of this model?

my 94' does shake around a little bit as well. I noticed it actually last weekend while on some rough water, too. I would say this is pretty normal for a 14-15 yr old boat. Just stay in the smooth stuff:D.

Thanks Ski Me, this is my first Mastercraft after growing up with I/O's. After the first 4 months I think i will be a MC owner for life. I do my best to keep in the glass, Thanks for the advice.

If you think about the design of the boat, it's like a big taco shell. There's nothing to help support or stiffen it from clamping shut cuz you have the walk through and ski locker. If there was a strut from the glove box area to the instrument cluster area, that would make a huge difference. But then you would have to high hurdle it to more around.

Our 94 205 is less than firm in rough water, we are just used to it. And that's what lifetime structural warranties are for. I think... are those transferable (but we got ours new).

My '92 205 was the same way. Lots of movement in rough water and it caused a lot of cracking around screw holes, anything plastic. Also had problems with alignment of windshield center piece.

Oh, yeah, the center window. Rough water beats the stink out of the hinge. I made a little L thingy out of 1/8x1 stainless that I riveted to the center section. When the center window is closed, the leg of the L rests on the frame of the driver's side window to help support it. Hinge wear reduced dramatically.

Can you describe this brace a little better? Any pics?

I'm guessing that the "L" rests on the top of the driver's side of the windshield, supports the weight of the folding section, and takes stress off the hinges?
