Glenn Beck is overblowing this. Basically, the govt can look at the dealer's computer when it's logged into the site, since it essentially becomes part of their network during the transaction. Your personal inquiries to the CARS site are just that, inquiries to a website.

I'm not a fan of Obama, but Glenn Beck is making FOX news look pretty bad lately.

OMG...what doesn't he overblow?

Fox has Bill O'Rielly, Glenn Beck, and (too often) Ann Coulter. Their credibility is marginal as it is...all they'd need to do is add Rush Limbaugh and they'd have a clean sweep. Having said all that, all it would take is for them to hire Nancy Grace and I'm done with them.

Holy cow.. Shep? I would trust Madoff before I trusted Obama:rolleyes: Fox news as a whole is the least biased of the news agencies IMHO. CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN are way too likely to omit or strategically change the wording within key talking points. That being said Beck is getting a tad neurotic.

I don't trust any of them Monte. Beck just seems to be one of the worst offenders. All TV news organizations have to pick what stories to highlight and how to present them. But it's the irresponsible, unverified, desperate ratings-grabbing, hysteria-inducing, "tune in at 6" bull**** that Fox, the Today Show, Good Morning America, and CNN throw out at the public on a daily basis that irritates me. It's one of the most insidious forms of lying IMO.

If there is noticeable bias on a "news" channel, it's not news. It's editorial. All of the above listed sources have their biases. Just because you (the royal you/we/us) may agree with it doesn't make it any less of an editorial.

So now that we've established the obvious existence of bias in all of the aforementioned outlets, let's get back to the issue at hand. The issue in this thread. The issue that had nothing to do with bias until there was an artfully executed shift in the conversation (Nice work, Stu, by the way :)).

What we have here is the dissemination of misinformation. But for a 24-7 news cycle and short attention spans, this should be a rather large blemish on Beck's image, his career, and on the sponsoring station as a whole. In a time long past, this might have resulted in a loss of credibility severe enough that recovery would not be assured. But the fact that it will not likely ever be acknowledged just reinforces the point that it's not news. Clearly he's neither the first nor the last so called "journalist" that will jump on something without thoroughly researching it just to "break" the "news." But this is his thread, so he's named simply as the most recent example of this nonsense.

I have actually taken to watching the local news. There's little bias in important things like weather and traffic (of course, it's a relatively small Texas town---it's hot as he|| and there's little if any traffic SNAFU's). Actually, for the fact that there are no major traffic issues to report every 15 minutes, we have a fishing report each morning LOL!). Apart from that, I do it not to gather information, but to entertain myself. Today's incompetents are tomorrow's nationally syndicated a$$hats. Fortunately for me, my son has little patience with these people and quickly shifts my attention to more meaningful television ... at least in his opinion. I haven't seen a national morning "news" program in a while.

I sure do miss when the news was something that happened once per day. Kiss my a$$ Ted Turner for what you created.

I have the benefit of being great friends with a very conservative lawyer in Colorado who is an accomplished debater. He was really good at moving the conversation to the talking points. It takes a shrewd maneuver to do it without much notice. Most of the people that are the talking heads for the left and right are absolute unapologetic slobs who just repeat their points until the interviewer, realizing he's not getting an answer, just goes to break. Hat's off to you, sir, on your deft execution.:friday:

Just realized that you might have been referring to my concern, not over Ann's legs, but what lies between them (or possibly slightly to the left). In that case, let your drunk buddy have first crack at it.

I think of it all like a piano tuner once said. In order to get the best result of sound it is best to stretch it way out. Once it has been stretched out the middle ground or tune is much easier to obtain and sustain. One news channel just pulls a little to the right, the rest pull to the left. Sure there are understated or overstated facts on all sides and just like you they all drive me nuts, I have just found it easier to stomach one over the other.

My biggest pet peeve is when they break into a good show with "shock" at 11:00. Then I have to wait until 11:28 to see the BS:mad:

The fact that Helen Thomas is hideous doesn't make Ann Coulter any less of a horse faced dude. All I'm saying is, for those who take political affiliation into account in their determination of hotness, there's got to be a better alternative. Even with the sound off, she looks like one of the albino twins from the Matrix Reloaded.

Jackson, Deilia A. (DEPUTY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY)

That equals $1,600,700 in salaries for Mrs. Obama's social team.
There has never been anyone in the White House at any time that has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the first lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help at taxpayer expense when even Hillary, only had three, Jackie Kennedy one, Laura Bush one and, prior to Mamie Eisenhower, social help came from the president's own pocket.

Gee Doug, are the pores in her skin the right size for you?

Yes, but she has sharp knees. ;)

This is completely out of line if this is true!!

The salaries for staffers in the Office of First Lady are also on the newest list. The highest paid is Chief of Staff Susan Sher, who gets the top $172,200. Here are the rest:

From factcheck.org ...

White House’s "personnel records indicate" that there were 24 staffers for Laura Bush at some point. We were able to verify at least 18 staffers for Laura Bush, as of June 30, 2008, via the 2008 White House staff list published in The Washington Post’s White House Watch column. Sixteen people were specifically referred to as a "first lady" staffer, and Amy Zantzinger and Dorothy Thornton served as White House social secretary and deputy social secretary, respectively. It’s possible that someone with the title of "staff assistant" was assigned to the Office of First Lady as well, as is the case with Michelle Obama’s staff.

The combined annual salaries for the 22 staffers we can specifically identify as working for Michelle Obama come to $1.6 million. For the 18 we could identify as working for Laura Bush in 2008, the total is $1.4 million.

To me, it seems like an awful lot of people and an awful lot of money (by seems I mean IS). But just to get back to the main point of the thread, the email author's contention that this is a drastic departure from prior administrations, specifically, Laura Bush's staff, is, apparently, a lie.

No doubt its not only them but many predecessors and all of congress. Is has evolved into some kind of elite ruling class that spends money at a break-neck pace on everything including themselves. Cars and drivers to get to work each day free gourmet lunches and on and on.

I saw one ray of hope that shows they do at least care some what we think, the Pelosi planes were for the time being dropped from the appropriations bill. Watch these thieves though it will show up in a bill passed at midnight and will not be reported by the drive-by media.

As a govt. employee who isn't making near what he could make in the private sector or, apparently, the White House internet surfer, and who still ends up somewhat out of pocket on conferences required to maintain his license and who is also not allowed to practice law outside of his government employ, I say cut those free cars, jets, gas perks, etc.

I'm not for big spending. Far from it. Unfortunately for those of us bound to pay it back, it hasn't been limited by party in some time. But every time an email gets passed along without the verification that google can usually provide, the credibility of the overall message gets wiped away with it. Better for those who want to spread a message to verify the facts as best they can and stand on the truth (and that means not relying on the stock language in the message that the previous sender verified with through snopes). Won't be the last one I see this week. I know that.
