This was my first time out in my new (to me) x10. The boat is an 03 and I absolutly love my first mastercraft - it really is an unbeliveble boat. I only had one problem with the ballast not working and I am hoping that it is something simple. The center ballast works fine but I cannot get either one of the rear ballasts to work. I turn on the dashboard switch and it lights up fine but I never hear the ballast pumps even try to come on. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

RobYou could try what some people on this board do........leave that little brass plug located right in front of the engine out. I hear you can add a lot of ballast in a short time with this method ;)

If it the switch lights up, it is not the fuse, make sure this is the case as my 03 is starting to wear and sometimes it will pop the fuse a few seconds after I turn the switch on. If this is the case, post back and I'll give some more tips.

Yep - I have done that before but I thought that it would be fun to use the ballast tanks on the boat.

It is not the fuse because I do get the lights on both of the switches for the rear ballast. Thanks.

start working your way back, following the wiring, you should hear something coming from the pumps, if not, loose wire. (make sure the lights stay on also)

I hear nothing from the pumps. I only see the one connection in the line the is right before the pumps. I am supprised that both the left and right side would not be working. Is there anything that would cause both sides not to work. I have never used the system before so do not assume I know what I am doing..:)

with an 03, loose wire is my best guess, wait a few days for MYMC to post this if there is more to it. Did you buy it from a dealer? They would probably at least help you troubleshoot it.
Let me know if you want more wake, I have a good, easy trick for mine that really makes a difference (03 X30, yours is simalar)

I bought directly from an individual and I am going to check with them but thought that I would ask here first. What is your tip for more wake?

I put a FLYHI 640 sac about 2/3 full in front of my rear seat on the floor. makes the wake have a little more lip to it. Also if you surf, this sac can be placed on either side with a great result in the wake. I'ts not too heavy for two guys to move around the boat to get the wake right.
There are better ways to weight the boat, but this is the best way I have found to do it with one sac. MYMC has some good tips to make it sick though.

With a volt meter you should be able to tell if the voltage is getting to the motor or if the motors are just not working? Can you trace voltage?

I agree. I will take a volt meter to the lake this weekend and see if I can determine if the voltage if reaching the pumps. Thanks.

I have the valves ( I think that there are 3 of them) in the drivers side rear compartment turned to the open. Are there any other valves that could be stopping the flow of water. I guess this could be a possibility but maybe not if I do not even hear the pumps running. Just a thought?

I had this problem on my 03 X2 the first time out this year. The impellar was "bound up". You can do two things. 1. We flipped the pump to fill then to empty to try and break it free. If that does not work you can get back to the pump and loosen the three screws on the front of the pump and spin the impellar to break it free. It is a brass looking portion on the front of the pump. Just a caution if you do this while on the water, water will start to leek through the pump so don't take it all the way off. You can tell if the pump is getting electric to it because you will be able to see it jump when you have someone else flip the switch while you are watching it. If it does not jump when flipping the switch you then have a bad connection somewhere. Good Luck
