OK, I keep my boat in my garage attached to my house and I want to have a battery switch on it. I have one of those blade switches on it now, but my freind says they arent the best to have because they may produce an arc which of course is a bad thing since the battery is next to the gas tank.
I dont have anywhere to mount one of those orange dial switches, so what should I do?? are there any other options? how can I mount a "marine" style switch in there somehow??
ANy help is appreciated.... :D

I have been thinking of adding one as well. My battery is under the observers seat centered in the boat. I plan to mount it thru the base of the seat with the knob in easy reach of the driver.
I had a scare Saturday with my battery when getting the boat ready for first time out.
The battery was dead and I got impatient recharging it and put the charger on Engine Start mode. The battery must have shorted internally and started to boil and smoke. It wouldn’t stop until I got the positive cable off. Scared the crap out of me. I was afraid I had a problem with the started or ??, but a new battery (Optima this time) solved the problem.
I also had a problem where the starter solenoid stuck once. I needed to disconnect the battery to stop the starter. I almost threw the passengers out of the boat to get to the battery.
If this ever happens again, I want to disconnect the battery quick!
Man, I'd be screwed if my starter got stuck. I'd have to throw people, the back seat, and rear compartment cover in the water before I could get to the battery.
I was charging my battery the other day and started the boat with the charger still attched, but turned off - saw a huge spark!
I've thought of mounting a switch to the engine cover, in the back by the hinges or run longer cables up the wiring bundle from the engine to the insturment pannel.
