You have to register golf carts in Cali?

Sodar
12-28-2009, 11:29 PM
You have to register it if you want to drive it on the street.

I live in a small town and want an electric cart to cruise in. All our streets except for 2 (Pacific Coast Highway and a Seal Beach Blvd.) are 35 mph or less, which means a cart is legal pretty much anywhere in the city. It would be awesome to throw surf racks on it and take it down to the beach, rather than riding bikes or getting the truck filled with sand.

Hopefully I can find what I want by Thursday... if I do, the cart will pretty much be free with the tax rebate!

I would totally get a done up Rhino or Razr, if I could get it registered for street use. Unfortunately, the CA laws do not classify them as a slow-speed vehicle. :(

I did see one Rhino a year or so back that had the smallest style BFG AT's on it and a lifted suspension. Talk about a sweet urban cruiser! I am certain it is only a matter of time, though, until the cops catch on and it gets impounded and the registration is revoked :(

Don't get me wrong, those units are cool. I was just thinking a of cruiser to get down to the water with, not one that will go anywhere and do anything like the Rangers or Rhinos.

I have been in this one several times and it is very nice. You may not like the color (cammo) but very well built and solid. I also think they have a stretch version of the LSV and it qualifies for the tax credit.

http://www.badboybuggies.com/stretch.php

Also and as you pointed out, the tax credit is called Qualified Plug-In Electric Vehicle Credit and is valid thru December 31, 2009. The credit (must meet qualifications) can be significant - one of the Bad Boy Buggies qualifies for a $5,590 credit.
