Hi. I have a 1995 Maristar 200 with the corvette motor and it won't start unless I put one of the electrical leads on top of the other on the neutral safety switch. I JUST replaced it, and after pulling apart the old one, I found there was nothing wrong with the safety switch. There is power on the ignition, starter and all the gauges.... so I'm at a loss. help please!!!

Wiggle the shift lever and try to crank it. It may need a small adjustment but I would also look at what activates the neutral safety switch for wear.

If you need to short the wires together, either the pawl in the transmission is worn or the switch needs to be threaded in more.

Also move the shift lever on the transmission into the safety neutral position with your hand. The same basic wiggle that Jim described only on the tranny end of the cable.
