I Was Caught Ina Very Bad Storm As I Was Putting Up My Boat Last Weekend...and As I Was Backing It Under My Aluminum Canopy, The Boat Wouldnt Back Up. So I Gave The Truck Some More Gas And Theni Heard My Wife Screaming At Me "stop!!"

I Still Had The Extended Pylon On The Boat!! I Bent My Canopy A Little And Didnt Notice The Pylon Until Last Night When I Went To Put It Back On The Boat For Today... The Bottom Piece Of It Is Bent. I Called Fly High And They Want An Arm And A Leg For This One Piece. ALMOST AS MUCH AS BUYING A WHOLE COMPLETE PYLON FROM THEM...

Thank God The Original Pylon Inthe Boat Didnt Give Away. Its Solid As They Come!

Does Anyone Have A Fly High Pylon They Want To Get Rid Of Before I Start Looking On Ebay To Get One To Replace Mine?

Thanks Guys!
Jay

Good call JimN, post a few if you can.
I'll forward 'em onto a guy if you like, that has a machine shop building barefoot booms and such.
Maybe he can help ...

I did the same same thing in the spring putting the boat in the garage. I did not have the cahonies sp? to admit it to you guys. Believe me it will only happen once. I take it down at the lake and still find myself checking everything before the final back in the garage. Glad to here the boat pylon was not damaged.

First time out of the garage last spring, I was so excited to get the boat in the water that I forgot to put the sunpad/trunk lids down, and caught both of them on the garage door. To make things even worse, the boat had gotten all new vinyl over the winter. I tore the **** out of it before I even got to use it! All three kids were with me and they learned several new words that day.

I have done this in the past. The new towers make this impossible though, so I have not done it with the new boat.

How much is an arm and a leg these days? You can buy a complete used one for like $150.

That's not always a good idea, depending on how much stress it's under (although I suspect they're over-built for typical use). bending and re-bending can change the characteristics of the metal (could become stiffer and more brittle). You called Barefoot International? Ask if they have any scratch & dent parts.

I saw a Bu boat owner about a hour ago, who tried to go through the drive-thru at the bank to get to the ATM with his extended pylon installed. It busted the ceiling and the pylon was protruding up into the attic portion between the joists, he couldn't back up, go forward, w/o more damage. The bow cable had crushed the fiberglass and rub rail on the bow and it appeared the pylon and extended pylon were severely bent and there wasn't enough room overhead in the attic to remove it from the plyon. I would guess he had to get someone to cut the extended pylon to get it out, but he had plenty law enforcement to help, cause the bank alarm was going off! Wish I had my camera.
Yes, they live among us!

Saw a friend put his PS190 on a brand new boat lift that had a roof, unlike the old one he had. He turned the lift on and started putting ski gear away in the garage. He forgot to take off the Fly High and it went right through the roof and the boat kept going up on the lift. The only damage was to the boat lift roof and probably his a$$ as his Dad was not too happy about it.

Call Mike or John at BI/FH and ask them if they have any blemished Fly High's or base Fly High sections. I assume you talked to one of them in the first place, but maybe didn't discuss this option. They may or may not have a piece for you, but you can get it for a better price if they do and you don't mind a small scratch or something.

Haven't done it with a pylon or tower - but I have pulled in the garage with a cartop carrier. Luckily it gave and just kind of squished down! But I had to take it off to back out again.

I make a point not to document with pictures all my mistakes. Knowing my wife she would join one of those scrap booking clubs to make me a Christmas gift and pull it out for friends and family to enjoy.
