Has anyone lost a complete stainless steel baffle assembly on one or both sides of the exhaust exits? The complete part insert including the neat round plate with the MC on it drops out and into the lake never to be found again. They are expensive and not available. My 07 X-2 MCX/Cat system just had this problem with one side. It is not covered under waranty after one year. The 08 models have an improved version that was somehow a "secret" held away from the 07 owners. I find it interesting that MC knew about the problem, designed a better one (that fails as well) and didn't want to provide it to us. MCs suggestion was to upgrade to the flapper for a cool thousand at the dealer. I built my own replacement part out of better material and will test it tomorrow 7-17-09. I have photos of the assembly prior to installation for anyone interested. Obviously, MC should view these photos and respond.

Did just the insert with the MC logo fall off or did the entire chrome tip fall off. On my 07 the insert fell off within the first month. Here is a photo of what happened to mine.

I know there were a lot of issues with these chrome tips with the welds on the inserts breaking and the insert fall off into the lake. There were also some performance concerns associated with the increased back pressure caused by these tips.

Have you approached your local dealer to ask if they would contact MC and ask them to warranty your tips as a goodwill warranty? If you already tried that route and didn't get anywhere it may be time to contact MC directly.

mine did the same thing within 2 months of owning it. dealer said it would not cause any damage so i ran the boat till the end of the season and when the dealer did some "other" warranty work, they replaced it.

My starboard side fell out last summer and the port side fell out in June. My Dealer replaced them both times.

Yes, I asked Mr Bill Gaddis at Mastercraft. He said that it wasn't covered and there are none of these parts available. They changed the design for 09 and moved on. The tips coming off is very common it seems. Losing the whole insert is common as well. My homebuilt replacement worked fine on its first day out.
