I was looking at a pictue of a 03 X30 MCX and a 04 X30 MCX and the exhaust manifolds appear to e different, 03 is a 2 piece and the 04 a one piece?

03 is a 2 peice cast iron manifold and riser.

04 is a cast aluminum (I believe) 1 piece design that was substantially lighter than the 2 piece version.

So then the 04 is a better design? Would it replace my 03's?

I wouldn't bother. I doubt there's much if any hp difference and lighter weight really isn't what you're looking for in a wakeboard boat, is it?

Yes and Yes.

Why upgrade, though? Are your manifolds and risers already rusted and worn?

No but they need work, check my other post about the melt down, I have pictures there.

The upgrade to the 1 piece tuned exhaust manifolds does make a difference in
power and performance. It is an expensive upgrade. We have done that upgrade
on a LT-1 and also a 2003 MCX like yours.

If you did overheat your motor I dought that any damage was done to the manifolds
Clean and repaint. I can see that you need NEW hoses and probably mufflers

Isnt the muffler the one piece fiberglass tube behind the engine? If so it looks ok, What was the cost if you happen to remember?

Take a look at the cost difference...
'04 manifold: http://mymastercraft.com/product_details.cfm?ITEM_ID=19074&product=81531300&product_type=ENGINE&company=MasterCraft&sub_product=Hardware
'03 manifold: http://mymastercraft.com/product_details.cfm?ITEM_ID=19040&product=81531052&product_type=ENGINE&company=MasterCraft&sub_product=Hardware
Riser: http://mymastercraft.com/product_details.cfm?ITEM_ID=19082&product=81532027&product_type=ENGINE&company=MasterCraft&sub_product=Hardware

Remember to multiply by two!
Not even close to worth it IMHO...

What would you recommend for the presumably ruined Silentmaster, Mike? Replace it with another Silentmaster, or switch to inline mufflers or baffled tips?

If you can get the old 2into1 Silentmaster that is what I would go back to (I do not seem to be able to get it anymore). Second choice would be the new two individual mufflers...distant (so far you'd need Hubble to see it) third choice would be the tips.

Yes the old single muffler is tougher to work around, but it makes better torque off the bottom.

So if my old Silentmaster 2 in to 1 is fried what would I need to go with individual mufflers? Also on the manifolds and heat risers, is it possile for them to burn out from heat? Correct me if I'm wrong, ut is the water sepperated from exhaust? If not what keeps wate from getting on hot valves?

My educated guess is that you may have some cracking between the water passages and the exhaust. Other possibility is warping...no way to tell without running it or finding someone who can pressure test them.

Single muffler is still available (good news) here is link to part: http://mymastercraft.com/product_details.cfm?ITEM_ID=11554&product=253010&product_type=ENGINE&company=MasterCraft&sub_product=Muffler

MYMC,
Thanks, is that times 2? What else would I need to change over? On my 2 into 1 Will it be obvious if its warped or leaking?

No that muffler is the single unit (two exhaust into one muffler into two outlets).

The exhaust manifolds would be where my concern is regarding warping, also the riser to manifold surface. You'll need to check for water in the oil change it regardless. Looks like you'll need a manifold drain kit as well as two more plastic elbows and hose for the manifolds as well.

We did no water, we are going to change it out tonight and do a compression and leak down tests. How do I know if the exhaust manifolds andd risers are bad? I posted over on your web site pictures of other parts I need, and here in the OP. Would it be to much for you to work up a parts needs list for me?

I'll log into our site and look...more than happy to help.

The only way to know about cracks is that the temps will start rising quick and you may get water in a cylinder, the oil or all the above.
