My bracket broke where the pin goes in (the back side which is very small area). Was thinking of getting it welded vs. new one-any thoughts???

THanks

It might work it might not. Many times the cast metal is very difficult to weld if it is a poor casting to begin with. You could consider the new folding set....... Just a thought.

I'll have to look in the shop, but I think I still have a set of brackets that go on the platform, but not the ones that attach to the boat. My boat is a 2001 X-Star, but imagine that the brackets are pretty much the same for most models around that year. A dealer could probably confirm that.

If that is the part you need and are interested, I will be happy to look for them, may be able to save you a little money anyway. The whole 4 pc set was pretty expensive, but after seeing the broke one, I decided trying to weld it was not the right solution.

You might be able to drill a new hole for the pin above the old one??? Just a guess. Let me know if my old brackets can help, 770 634 5437!

I just discoverd a break in the swim platform bracket. How did you fix it? Did you have to get a new bracket?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
My boat is a 2005 Pro Star 209, the bracket has a number on it that looks like '530387'.
I took photos of the break, but don't know how to post them here.

You will have to order a new bracket-took it to some welders and they were not comfortable with welding it due to the type of iron!!!! Marine Tex the holes yesterday and waiting for brackets to arrive tom.

It looks like I will order a new bracket. May try that Marine Tex in the meantime.
