Seems like a good deal on some left over boats might be availble? Been looking at our local Supra dealer too but I like the MC. Thinking an X2 maybe an XStar if the price is right.

Can anyone help a newbie out?

Give Eric a call at Chicago Mastercraft. He'll either set you up, or steer you in the right direction. he'll even ship if you want.

I think you expand your good-deal opportunities the farther you are willing to drive. I'd sure call or email some of the dealers on this board. Eric at Chicago MasterCraft has a great reputation around here. Likewise Mike at Mastercraft of Charlotte and Jim at Bay Area Watersports in Land O' Lakes Florida.

Performance Marine in Nashville, Tn. has some good 08's on the lot!

If you buy one from out this way I'll let you sit on my lap and teach you how to drive before you head back. ;)

Sorry, the throttle on your boat doesn't go down far enough!!!

The X-2 and X-Star are both pretty different in terms of what you get. Without more information on how you'll use the boat its pretty hard to tell which one is better for you but heres a quick synopsis of each.

X-2 - The X-2 has an awesome wakeboard and surf wake, the stock ballast is decent and it is easily upgradable if you find yourself doing more and more surfing as many people with this boat do. The X-2 also has a good ski wake, its no ProStar 190 but its great for recreational skiing. The space on this boat is HUGE, much bigger than you would think based on its overall measurements, in fact the cockpit area is almost as large at the X-Stars. The X-2 has a smaller sundeck and bow. In terms of rough water ride the X-2 is great, I've driven them through fairly good sized chop, double ups and the like. Very fun and it drives great (even when heavily ballasted) with either the 310 or the 350 hp engine.

X-Star - This is my favorite boat in the line up!!! The X-Star comes with more standard features than an X-2 and thus has a higher starting price as well. That being said the X-Star wake is awesome, not so much in that its huge (it can be!) but in that it has a long smooth transition, you do not need to be a pro level rider to appreciate this wake, in fact it makes almost all riders better thanks to its smooth take off and long landing ramp. While the X-Star wakeboard wake is straight up the best I'd say the X-2 has a better surf wake though both my wife and I have had awesome surf sets behind the X-Star. The bow in this boat is HUGE and comfortable. The X-Star drives awesome with a 350 hp engine but I think it drives better with the 400 (we run about 3500lbs of ballast)

If you have any specifics between the two let me know, I've logged a good number of hours in and behind both.
