Last week we took the boat to the lake, put it in the water and the boat started for a couple seconds then died, it started a 2nd time then died. It would not turn over a third time. The engine is cranking but not turning over. The battery still had 11 volts but to be safe we charged the battery and took the boat on the next day and it ran great for 6 hours, then died. It would sputter and die when you put it into neutral, but it restarted almost all day. Additional when pulling a wakeboarder the engine would start with good power then max out on the power curve way to soon, I would then ease up on the throttle then accelerator again and the power would return.

We took it to a shop and they tried to start it 2 days later and it started without issue.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Sounds like it could be a charging isssue.... Bad alternator , connections, etc. Not sure why it dies in neutral though. Try having the alternator tested and make sure all connections are tight and clean.

The battery still has 11-12 volts when this happens. Could the engine be flooding?

Sounds like a fuel issue. How's your carb. Have you serviced it, or have records that it has been serviced recently. Might be time for a rebuild. Do you have a starting procedure? Two or three full throttles. When you say, "max out on the power curve way to soon," what kind of rpm's are you running. If you can't get over about 3000, got to be a carburetor issue.
