I have an X45 6.0L that won't start at all just cranks over. I have checked the fuel filter it looks fine. I will replace but I don't think that is the issue. Could anyone tell me how is the the best way to check spark an the spark plug? This engine is distribuless. I have checked the lanyard and it appears to be fine. With out taking it apart and check voltage can can't tell you 100 % its ok.
Any help would be great.

Thanks

Sam

I'm just going to take a shot in the dark--- Fuel pump maybe?

Use a timing light.

The only way to be sure about the fuel is to check the pressure. Use a gauge that has a purge valve with a thin hose and take a fuel sample, too. How much gas is in the tank?

It has about 70 gal. I can hear and feel the pump prime but I am not sure if it is actually sending fuel to the rail. I will see if I can see any pressure on the rail.
I don't have a timing light but maybe I can rent one or borrow one.
Any other suggestions would be great.

Thanks again

Check your fuel pressure first. The pump is THE most likely culprit by far....

If you have a Harbor Freight nearby, they have a timing light with advance adjustment on sale for about $25. They also have fuel pressure gauges.

Did you ran out of gas lately?
Those fuel pumps needs gas for cooling.Never run your boat with less then 1/4 of gas or there is a good chance of ruining it!
Glad you're up and runnin!:)

sound advice keep plenty of fuel in the tank otherwise you will burn out more pumps than you need to ..
