For some reason I have a light blue wire that I don't have a home for. It is not the blue wire that came off of the oil pressure sending unit.
this is on an 89 tristar.....Help.

Lakepirate; I'm struggling to understand where it came from myself or is it just a piece of wire loose in the boat connected to nothing?

I changed out the distributor to electric and when reassembling the wires I can't figure out what it was attached to.
Where, exactly, is this wire? Have you checked it for voltage or connection to ground?

It is in the wiring harness and comes around to the front of the engine. I will check it for voltage and post right back

Well I don't have a voltometer that works. Don't you just love that. I will try and get one tomorrow and search around for a wiring schematic.
If anyone has any thoughts on a grey/lt blue wire that would be in the front of the engine. It is also the last wire on the right of the breaker box.
Didn't you say it was light blue in the original post? If it's grey with a blue tracer, look on the back of the tach and see if it matches the tach wire. If it does, it goes on the coil (-) terminal.

That would make sense
Positive or Neg on the coil?

Now that you say that it makes perfect sense
(-) = didn't even register
Thanks Jim

Sounds right to me.
This wiring diagram seem to be somewhat universal for the older boats.
