I've been a Mastercraft fan since I was 7 or 8 years old and watching the Stars and Stripes up and down Windermere. Andy Mapple and Mike Hazlewood were both local to us, everyone skied, our neighbour worked for Mastercraft. We saw the odd Nautique but the S&S was king. OUt of our league financially though, we had a little Albatross!

I grew up, joined the forces, went off doing all sorts of stuff and now, 25 years later find myself back at Windermere in the same old Cabin my folks had all those years ago.

I'm still surrounded by S&S (My bro has an all black 1980, his neighbour a 1982 white/blue) but now of course there's a huge range of boats out there, plenty of X Stars and the likes around us.

Now after all these years however, I've bought my own, times are tough as we all know and I didn't want to stretch but I've bought a 1990 Prostar, very good running order, fully refurbed in 01 with receipts and history. Little tatty round the edges as she's stood for 18 months but a good scrub and a little repair here and there she'll be looking lovely. Should be picking her up on Saturday and I really can't wait!

One thing I'm really stuck on is the issue of towers, mostly they look quite ugly on the Prostars, especially they very tall looking ones and I'm really unsure what to do. I 'd like a tower for ease/storage/speakers but aesthetics are important too. Any of you know or suggest a tower that looks well on the 1990?

Any other tips or comments more than welcome too!

Welcome aboard!

You didn't mention if you were getting a PS 190, so I assume that is it. I own a 205 and purchased a Moster Tower www.monstertower.com (http://www.monstertower.com) back when they just came on the market. There are many looks you can get out of it depending on where you mount it. See my picture below.

You can also visit their website and view all the customer pictures and find what they would look like on your boat. http://www.monstertower.com/Home/CustomerPhotos/tabid/573/Default.aspx

Just be careful because you don't mount it right it could look like poop! :D

Het DD I think the first year for the 205 was 1991 so he probably has a PS190

MY Monster came with the boat

Thanks for that piece of information. I didn't know that.
The Monster looks good on your boat. Good mounting positions the previous owner chose.

Congrats and welcome to the club. I recently put a tower from Big Air Pylons on my old S&S. Different boat, but I really liked the looks and they're about 1/2 price of the other towers.

Whats up, do you still need a strap across the bow with that tower??

New Dimensions is the way to go in my opinion if you can afford it.

Welcome to the board!

I see a lot of people here going with the New Dimension towers. A good choice I'm sure.

I just thought I'd put another vote for the Monster. They're different, but simple, solid, silent, easy to install, and inexpensive. You either love 'em or hate 'em. I like mine just fine.

Thanks for all your replies, the Monster does look better black on black I have to say.

Most of the people I know have the Monster but I hadn't been convinced, that last pic might change my mind. Anyone seen a Tribal Scorpion on a Prostar? I like it as a tower but I'm concerned it will look horrific on the older style boats. Hey Plave, Welcome to the site.
How about this Tower. Made by Joystick I got it shipped from the States and it worked out quite cheap compaired to some in the UK. It was quite easy to install and does the job well.

pm me if you want more details.

I'll have to see if they will ship to the UK, can't find a stockist here.

Yours looks quite tidy Abe, what was the cost roughly?

I like the ND towers. I wish they could display them a little better than on the trailer, on a gravel road near a field next to a silo. Sure would like to see my model in the water with and without a bimini top.

I vote for the ND also if the money is in the budget. I had a Monster on my Tristar, installed by PO. Looked decent and very solid. But the ND just looks better.

What looks best is no tower at all on that boat, tho.

You really know how to burst someone's bubble, with all the research I'm doing about putting a tower, amps, lights, speakers on our boat, jeeeezze!

This is close, but isn't a ND and has no accessories to make it top heavy so it will sway!48659

The Tower cost me $600 US and $200 for shipping, That was last Summer when the Pound was strong against the US Dollar.
Here is the UK E bay item number 260434005497 The guy is called Ron Renner, If your thinking of Buying one, Give him an e mail first and tell him its shipping to the UK and he may well do you a good deal.

Let me know if you need any more pics or info.

Mark, That's The one. He has a good stock of them. The Exchange rate is obviously not as good as last year, But - going by the price of Towers HERE - I still think he would get a better deal.
I suppose he could shop around and get a second hand Tower, But they don't come around that often and a even a decent used one will still fetch good money.
