Hello folks,
I came in contact with an old white dock bumper and it all scraped off on my nice black rubrail. It seems pretty stuburn to remove, although I have not tried anything but a chaomis cloth. What is a good product to use to soften this white scar and get my old rub rail back. Thanks in advance

I would try some 400 grit sandpaper with soapy water.

My rubrail is not black, but I cleaned off some white marks on mine using mineral spirits on a rag and a little elbow grease.

Lacquer thinner, then a good coat of protectant like Armor All or 303 is all it takes, no sandpaper.

I had some similar cleaning to do this weekenda and the little lady introduced me to Mr Clean Magic Erasers. They are amazing at getting off stuck on stains and removing rubber / gunk like you're talking about.

I used one of the scotchbrite kitchen sponges the rough side that is kind of like sand paper to get off marks when I had a black rubrail. Then just use Armor All to shine it back up and you won't see the marks or anything. Has worked for me for years!

Little acetone on a rag should take it right off, and then wash area with soap/water.

+1 on the Acetone...goof-off also works well. Both will pretty much evaporate as applied...still a good idea to rinse w/ soap and water after- especially if you wipe or "over-spray" on gel-coat.

top coat with 303 you're all set.
