Proper installation of a Ten Foot Pole??

I've had a Ten Foot Pole pylon that came with the boat, but haven't tried it yet. My question is; does the front bow strap go through the front eye or just around the bow?

My brother recently bought a wakeboard and after a few times out I thought I'd try the taller pole to see if it makes any difference.

Through the bow eye on the hull. (where you attach the trailer winch strap)
