Hoping someone can tell me what to expect re support form MC...
I have an 06 X1 That we purchased new in 07...I take very good care of it.
Its has always been stored on either the trailer or on a covered lift.
Today I discovered cracks on both driver and passenger side near the tower mount.
I have contacted MasterCraft here in Seattle (as usual they are great)
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how it was handled.

Just out of curosity, what is that scar right in the middle of the picture and is there one like it on the other side?
How about a picture taken of the area, not so close up and of both sides.

I have no idea what that is...Yes there is one on teh other side as well...Not in the exact same place but in a similar area.
Here is another photo or two...You cannot really see the cracks unless close up

I was very concerned about the tower connection points and was very insistent on getting the braces for the tower when they became available so I don't get any cracks due to no fault of my own.

What is the warranty on these issues?
I had stress cracks on my 07 X2. It was still under the year warranty and the dealer fixed them all right away no problems. I had several near the walk-thru where the upper windshield area comes down and meets the seats. Right at that corner I had several on both sides.
Also had one at the rub-rail near the rear. This one was an actual crack that went all the way through and not just surface and they had one of the MC fiberglass guys from the MC assembly line come out and repair them.
Also had one on the rear exhaust where it looked like they over tightened a screw and it pulled the fiber glass up all around and cracked it. This one was found at delivery when new and they repaired it same week I took delivery as well as a small hole I found on one of the ribs where there was a void left from the mold and no fiberglass or gel coat filled it.
So far no problems with fixing what has happened but I dread if it happens now out of warranty..... have yet to cross that bridge.

WOW...One year sounds outrageously short.
Usually one year.
I had a 2000 PS before this and never had issues with stress cracks.

I asked the MC fiberglass specialist about this and you just never know. He said my cracks where in the most common areas. I have not had any since however the cracks where around 35 hours and I only have 50 hours on the boat.

Have your dealer fix them. You will be fine. MC will cover them. Dealer will take pics and get money from MC for the repair.

That is how we started the process...MC Seattle asked me to send photos.

hello all, I currently have a 2004 x30 that MC/dealer warrantied when I found a stress crack on my boat last year. I am pretty sure, on a case by case basis, MC stands behind their product. Your dealer will need to discuss it with MC and see if they will warranty it. At times, sometimes, the dealer will take care of it and eat the costs becuase they want you to be happy. Who knows now though since the tough economical times?

With that scar, they are not going to cover anything. To be honest, I wouldn't either. It is pretty obvious that there was some type of impact in that area that caused the stress crack.
Good Luck.

Indicated to me as Sodar said that there has been some type load or stress in the area that caused the cracks, especially since the scars are on both sides along with the stress cracks.:twocents:

Don't know about the scare but if I were MasterCraft I'd be looking realy close at that too.
That being said, if that's your air intake vents mine had the same stress cracks (03 X2, 132 hours at the time). I bought my boat used and knew going in that this was going to be on me though. I took my boat to the shop that does the glass work for MasterCraft and Malibu in our area (Fred's Custom Boat Repair) and he said that this was a common area for stress cracks on this model boat. Had to do with the vent being on the deck near the tower mount. They did a great job fixing mine and the cracks never came back.

It is common as it happened to my 2005 X-2 but the previous owner had it fixed under warranty within a year. Just let them know, you think its a common problem and see where they go with it.

I'm just wodering, if the tower is folded down, does it touch/load on the gel coat there?
