I'm looking for a decent set of used gears for a Ford 8" rearend (not 8.8"). I currently have some 2.79:1 gears and I'm looking for some 3.50:1 to 4.11:1. I'm a full-time student so I don't have the money to spend on a set of new gears. Does anyone know someone that has some gears they would like to get rid of? Thank you.

Drew

I don't know anyone right off hand who has some, but I'll put the word out. There's a pretty good 4wd shop around here where I buy my Jeep parts that may have some just lying around. I'll see what I can find.

I'm still in school, so I don't have a lot of money to put into my Mustang right now. The original gears have tons of wear/slop.

why not just put a 8.8 back there.

:cool:Have you tried the you pull it salvage yard route?

This is the route I did/currently doing for my K5. Picked up a used rear end with 4.10's for $100. 14 bolt SF, 6 lug. Pretty good deal and cheaper than setting up the gears all over again (and also buying the new gears).

I will say though, your mustang looks pretty cool from your Avatar....

I think I will contact a salvage yard to see if I can get something from them. Thanks for the help guys.

The green one is mine. The blue belongs to my middle brother and the red belongs to my youngest brother. They are all '68 coupes. Mine has a 351W with a Tremec TKO 500 5-speed. The other two have 351C with automatic transmissions.

after you go through setup you'd prob be cheaper to do a 8.8 swap. If not hit up chase at east coast gear supply. Good guy and can help you out
