Well, I found a GREAT 1985 stars and stripes...389 hours and in terrific condition...

Anyone have comments on the boat before we buy it?

Speed?
reliability?

Any suggestions would be great!

Great boats. I just sold a 79 and a buddy of mine has an 85. They're great boats and are just all together hard to beat. I assure you that there are tons of guys on here that can vouch for that. Top speed - 45ish.

A "classic Mastercraft." We enjoy the heck out of our '84. Only drawback is that they're real limited on space and are real weight sensitive if you're looking for a good even wake for slalom/trick.

Ditto here also. Lots of fun, yes a little tight on room but, that has never hampered a good time! It sounds great! Good luck!

Excellent choice, my father has an 85 and I love it. Very "nimble" in the water compared to today's boats. It is the perfect ski boat. Good luck

I've had my 85 for 20 years now and will probably keep it another 20. It's a great boat.

1500 hours and still running strong.

I have a 1983 with a 440 Chrysler. I have skied behind and owned many new ski boats from all the biggies and can say that nothing beats a slalom set on glass behind my classic stars and stripes. Skiing nirvana!

I've got an 84 and love it. Simple, clean, easy to work on. Powerful and fun. Limited space but overall a super boat. How much are they asking for the 85?
