Are boat radio antennas like car radio antennas?

I dont get any stations and I tried looking at the back of the radio for a plug like cars have but couldnt see anything. I saw a blue wire that was unplugged and said remote ant but thought most blue wires wer meant for a pre-amp signal.

So do most boat antennas have a different plug and are they simply a wire or do they all look similar?

I'll try googling the radio brand and model to get a wiring schematic.

When I installed the Clarion unit last winter, I added a std antenna and mounted it under the front dash. It plugs into the back of the radio just like a car, works great!

Antenna female plug, just like cars. Standard antenna works, or short mini mast antenna. Also, marine antenna wire. Crutchfield good source. Also, blue wire is an accessory on wire. Used to send power, to turn on remote amp or raise an electric antenna.
