View Full Version : MC Screen Saver

has anyone ever thought about doing this?...each person post one picture of their boat in the best resolution that the site will allow. i think it would be kinda cool to have all kinds of different pictures of MCs for a screen saver. Maybe someone smarter than me could compile them to make an actual screen saver program thing?

That picture was taken during a driver practice session on a Sunday morning after the 1989 MC Cypress Gardens boat owner reunion in a stunt called "Thread the Needle". Using the picture below as reference, the second and fourth boats from left to right approach the other three boats going at a somewhat slower speed in the opposite direction and the two boats at WOT launches off the convergence of the wake that two boat it went between created. When the boat launches, the throttle is cut back somewhat (prevents over revving) and as soon as the hull makes contact with the water, it's back to wide open. The driver is Eddie Skidengsrude, the youngest person to ever drive at Cypress Gardens professionally and later became Director of Operations of the park.

yeah that was literally his first day with it. the water level fluctuates. i believe he's since built a retractable gangway. while we were there, we either swam over to it, or used an aluminum skiff and pulled ourselves over via a line.

Beautiful river and some great water for skiing/boarding. Spent some time there a few years back. Would love to go back sometime. Nice restaurant where the river dumps into the lake by the bridge. Fun to take the boat there and tie up to their dock. Forget the name of the place.

How did the x-2 handle Lake Erie? I have not been on Erie since we sold our closed bow Sea Ray because I am worried about taking an open bow boat into the waves that can develop in the Western Basin.

I've had all my MasterCraft's (TriStar 190, 200VRS, 03 X2) on Lake Erie (with the exception of the new 07 X2 we just picked up. I plan to rectify this next week while on vacation) and all have done very well. You're going to have to pick your days, which are limited but I've found the aspects that make inboards great for sking also make them very suitable for bigger water.

You're not going to be able to play Miami Vise and go crashing around in 3 foot chop but you can certainly use the ability to hold a constant speed to get back to the harbor in just about any kind of water. I've personally been caught out in a sudden storm and had to make it back to Colchester Harbor from the Detroit River (about 8 miles distance) in 3 - 4 foot seas. Took the better part of 2 hours to do it but never once doubted I'd make it or felt we were in danger. Set the right angle and take your time. These boats are built very well.

I do worry about having that big tower sitting up there on my new X2. Last thing I want is a bunch of stress cracks from bashing the boat.
