Hey all, interested in this boat below. I talked with the dealer, he spoke pretty well of it. I am requesting more photos from him as we speak. I am a little leary of buying a repo'd boat but who knows, seems like I can get a good deal on it. If I like the pics I see would anyone be willing to scope it out for me?

Nice looking boat. Repo don't scare me. Do your research. See if Texas Mastercraft, has any history of the boat. Wiley is about 140 miles
from me.

I'm about 1.5 hours from there. I'd love to check it out for you, but I've got a few projects with mine these next few days. Keep me updated.

Ric,

Not sure, I did get a firm price on what they would sell it for. It seems pretty good if the boat is clean ($16k) I bet if I offered $15.5k they would take it.

Judging from the name "GatorBait" I'd say it was repo'd from an Florida Gators fan.

hmm.... I am interested/concerned to see if the boat was used in saltwater.

The trailer looks to good to have been used in saltwater. I see Wylie is right on a lake mid state.

I would ask about saltwater. There is a club on the gulf coast called Gatorbait.

I'll be in nearby in Greenville, TX for ski school on June 13, but I'm guessing you need somebody to look at it a little sooner than that. A little far for me to get to during a work day without taking off work and my weekends are a little booked right now.

On another topic, our newly relocated CC dealer has what apears to be a nice little late 80s PS 190 out front. I presume that it is for sale. This is one I could definitely check out for someone if they are interested. I was in there on Friday and didn't notice it. So it's either in for service or for sale.

Certainly ask about saltwater, but I highly doubt that a boat being sold in the Dallas area would be concern for salt water use. Yes, I know you could trailer it anywhere. The point is, I just don't see it being a concern, seeing as how Texas has a plethera of fresh water lakes in the Dallas area.

If everything on the engine and down in the bilge are corrosion-free, then it's either never been in salt or it was cleaned very thoroughly if it was. Either way I wouldn't worry. If it was a salt water boat it would be evident pretty much immediately upon inspection. Atleast this is my experience having grown up around salt water.

Gee, I've got an idea, let's replace "World Record Ski Boat" with "Gatorbait."

How good is your image software? Zero in under the boat name, should be a city or port name. My software blurred out, couldn't read it.

Boat looks like it's in great condition from the pictures that were sent.

I'm only 15 miles away from Wylie, so I could check it out for you one night this week or Friday afternoon if you're still interested.

I agree with that as a general rule, but to me, there doesn't looks like there is much gasket left. I waited until mine started leaking out the side. Kind of wish I hadn't. Maybe waited too long as I don't think my riser and manifold mate up as well as they once did (don't know if that was a product of waiting too long). New gaskets helped quite a bit, but I still get a little leaking out the sides.

Definitely not a fun project though. At least the bolts on the newer engines look a little easier to get out of there.

My father-in-law's are looking about like these. So I guess time will tell as far as how long they will last. I hope for a while as I don't think he has any plans to change them. I don't think water out the side is the sole cause of manifolds rusting, but it's a contributing factor, even if a minor one (especially when that surface rust is already there---and it usually is).

Jeff,

That boat looks really clean. With the exception of that little bit of dock rash shown in the one picture but it would be a very easy fix. From the pictures it looks like if it runs as good as it looks you should have a great deal. Good luck with it.

Jeff, if you get it, start home down I-20 before heading north (only a little out of the way). I'll buy you some 89 octane and we'll go for a ski.

Yeah, I've got a digital camera and can take some additional pictures if you'd like.
Just let me know when the guy is available for me to come look at it.
Send me a PM or email me the guy's info, what areas you want pictures of, and questions you want me to ask.
