i have an 87 prostar and when we bought it it had just a plain old silver key. is there an original key for it with a prostar grapic or any key with a prostar graphic for that matter? anyone know where I could get one? just don't like the plain, cheap-looking key.

Check with your local MC dealer. They should be able to get you an "original key". If not, I've heard that it is not that hard to change out the ignition which would come with a new key.

I think the original is a plain old silver key. I think that is what mine had. #1, you out there?

Yea, I'm here for a while,
Your MC dealer/a MC dealer can get you the ignition switch with the molded MC keys that go with the set and there is a possiblity that they have/can get blanks too that can be cut by a locksmith to match your switch. I did it back in 1993, when I changed from a plain steel key to a porcelain anniversary key.
The blank key was close enough to my ignition switch original key number/style and my guy at Ace Hardware cut the new one to work,

I have a pair of keycaps like the one pictured that I have long considered putting up for sale. I have one here at the office and I'm pretty sure the other is at the house. They are a bit yellowed from age, but I recall reading they will clean up with some magic eraser. Since, like a 98 Powerstar, they are rare, I will sell them for $28,000.

If I show you another one just like it for sale will you reconsider the asking price?

Sorry, but that's not a key cover, but the whole one piece key, just like these two additional spares for our boat,

Sorry #1. Mine comes apart, and glues back together. I've had spare keys made at Ace hadware. Didn't mean to insult you.

You didn't. I just didn't understand the cover statement in the other posts either, never have seen them, just the MC black molded on coating that's on some keys.

Probably not, but you can ask a dealer to check with the MC Parts Department.
