Thats a pretty good price, but if you can do the rebuild yourself, you can do it a bit cheaper still. I was able to pick up my 4160 for 85 bucks shipped, and found the rebuild kit on sale for 25 on amazon last year. Took a few hours to scrape, clean and rebuild, but it wasnt too difficult.

Just make sure it is a MARINE 4160.

It was a marine carb. They even ask for boat specifics, although Im not sure if they do any special tuning to the carb...

But the 248 price was just for the rebuild. Theres an 88 dollar core charge, plus 18 bucks shipping, which brings it pretty much on par with what other people are charging for reman carbs. When you consider that you can get a brand new carb for just over a hundred more, it seems like less of a deal...

Be sure it's the right 4160! Correct PN for Indmar replacement is #080319-1 for $475.99, but from Skidim same carb is $499 before 10% discount code with a online purchase, making it $450.

Contact Holly, they do reconditioning. When I had my 1993 I sent it to them, and it was under $300.00 no core charge.

If you sent yours in that is a core.

Yep, good price. 750 CFM exact spec. for my '89 Indmar 454, electric choke and dual inlet. It's a beauty, and best of all my 240 is running like it should.

$239 remanufactured #80319 from here:
www.nationalcarburetors.com/marinecarburetorsforless/fourbarrelholley.aspx
$199 if you send in your old carb.
You even get to choose the finish -- gold, black, silver.

I purchased from them last year and it worked flawlessly out of the box. They asked about the boat and my altitude so they could tune it for my needs. (Important, cause I'm at 2800' here next to the foothills of the Rockies.)

I wonder what they are really doing, because a rebuild kit is definitely less than 50, and besides cleaning, what else goes wrong? I've heard of warping, but does it really happen often?

Metering block is something you might have to replace. I just had to on my rebuild.
