So last year when my boat overheated the silent master exhaust tube inlets got pretty messed up. I went and fix them and ran the boat for awhile and everything was fone but now I got cracks and cracks on top of cracks going everywhere. I am trying to find another silent master exhaust tube somewhere to replace the one I got or am just gonna straight pipe it and call it a day. Does anyone have one that might be willing to part with or know where I can get one for a 01 X-30 5.7L? I got a quote from a guy and it was gonna be like 500 but would like to know if there is something better or cheaper before I drop that amount of money on it.

I'm sure somebody here will pipe up, but I think those can be repaired by a good fiberglass guy for way less than $500.

I hate that Silentmaster muffler, and if MINE blew out, I'd replace it either with MasterCraft baffled exhaust, or with some inline mufflers. Maybe then I would have reasonable access to the parts (such as impeller) in the "front" of my engine at the rear of the boat.

Yea I talked to a fibeglass guy about it and he said with the amoutn of damage it would be better to just replace. I am in agreement about not liking the silent master but do not know what these other exhaust you are talking about look like or where to get them. I would like more room back there that is for sure. Is it going to hurt the performance if I go to a single on each side? Right now with the leaks I got the boat will run fine for a few minutes but once I lose all the backpressure the boat chokes itself out.

Call Mike at MC of Charlotte. MYMC on this forum. 704-525-6660

He will be able to tell you what your options are and will have or can get whatever you need. Just be patient, it's a busy season for him.

For example:

Additionally, MasterCraft eliminated the SilentMaster in 2007 and switched to inline exhaust with baffled exhaust tips. It has been mentioned here that older boats like yours can be converted to use that new exhaust system. I don't know what's involved, nor do I know how much it costs, but in the course of evaluating all of my options, I'd give my dealer a call and ask about my options. Those baffled tip have not been without problems, and IIUC, the Silentmaster is again available. Reportedly, it provides a little more power on the 2008-and-newer boats and is quieter.

I am discouraged by the engineering of the Silentmaster installation on my 2004 (relative to its installation) and I'd love to get rid of it. If mine ever broke, I'd be talking to my dealer, or giving MYMC a call, or calling SkiDIM, or whomever else, to discuss alternatives that would eliminate the Silentmaster but wouldn't affect performance.

I think if there was an award for "Thread Title Most Likely to Raise Some Eyebrows", this would be one of the nominees... :)

I was afraid to look at this thread because of the title, but I think there is medicine that will help control your problem.

That's why they say, "Don't drink the water!", fish crap in it, among other things!
