Hello all,

I spent many years as a kid skiing behind loads of other peoples Stars n Stripes back in the early - mid 80's. Since then I've spent alot of time away from water but this year have got myself back out there and started boarding, having great fun with a wakesurfer and wakeskate too!

My brother has a lovely black stars and stripes but I want to buy something I can call my own, I'd love to order an new X2 but that's a little out of my league, from looking round at my budget (max 10k UK Pounds but ideally 7/8k) there's the odd Prostar and a few Tristars around but I know little about them, I figured there was nowhere better than here to ask.

Mostly I'll be wakeboarding so that's a priority, what should I be looking out for most in a boat? There doesn't seem to be many Tristars compared to Prostars, what's the difference?

Welcome to the forum. Tristars were not a big hit. They came in 19' and 22' models. The 19 came open and closed bow, the 22 was just open bow I think. But don't hold me to that statement. Monte here on the forum has a Tristar 220. I had a Tristar 190 open bow. I was happy with it. The interior is small, but bigger than a prostar. And wider. It does not have as good a wake for slalom naturally, but isn't bad. Bow dunks very easily. Probablly would serve you pretty well for boarding. Not a bad boat. But if there were any chance of you finding a 91 0r newer prostar 205, I'd go that route.
