View Full Version : Any X-Star rumors?

Has anybody heard anything about when the X-star will get a makeover? Hopefully not much done to the hull, but the cockpit is really long in the tooth. The X2 and X15, for example, are smaller boats that feel at least as big as the X-Star when you're sitting in them. My personal opinion is the styling of the X-Star feels a bit more dated - more the lines, the arrangement of the seats, etc. The drivers seat and instrument pod looks great.

Maybe Mastercraft can make the sun deck smaller like X2 or X15 thus making the cockpit larger for more sitting room?

I'd be surprised if they change anything soon.

Don't believe they will be changing it at all. The X-star will stay the core wakeboard boat it is. The sun pad and bow areas are so large so that additional ballast has a place to live. What will happen is a new model using the csx running surface with a more friendly and traditonal cockpit design. Good news because this boat has great wakeboard wakes and very nice surf wakes both port and starboard. 2011 should be good!

Aren't the CSX hull and the X-35 hull the same or at least based on the same shape?
I had once heard from a cousin's girlfriend's brother in law's neighbor who was involved in strategic planning that the X-35 hull was going to be the next star.

Are you looking at the latest brochures? I think with the exception of the non-pickle boats, they all look very similar with the exception of length.

Never seen the brochures ... I'm looking at the X-Stars versus X-2s, X-45s, etc that I've seen in the showroom as well as my '06 X-30 (former boat) and the '08 X-15 I drive today. One of the earlier comments might have hit the nail on the head... the huge storage areas in the rear make the X-Star look clunky (my opinion) relative to the X-2 or X-15 which are smaller boats yet feel more "open". Maybe this is a necessary evil required to get the X-Star's performance...
You all need to lighten up about the X-star (not directed at you, Sodar - the whole tone of this thread went from a question about what the next model change might entail to a "I can't believe someone dared question our beloved X-Star!"). I have little doubt it's the best pure wakeboard boat available, but I've noticed anytime anyone here says anything that can even loosely be interpreted as a criticism of the X-Star, a bunch of people get their panties in a bunch. As a point of fact, the X-Star *is* an older design than many of the other X-series, so I don't think asking whether anyone knows when it might change and to what should be so unusual.

BTW, all this started because a dealer several months back told me some rumblings they heard of X-Star change, but made me promise not to say anything. I dismissed it as typical sales crap, but it got me wondering if there were any more substantiated rumors.

Hey, no harm in asking the question. I think that either you misunderstood your dealer or else he was misinformed. How many others did he feed the same line of crap to? "Don't tell anyone, but...." If a dealer doesn't want the word spread, they don't tell you any privvy info. Or else they trust you enought to know you won't go blabbing it on the internet.
Your opinion means as much or as little as everyone else's, but I haven't heard any other comments about the X Star being out dated here, fwiw. And personally I could care less - I don't have any dog in this fight.

definetly been told from good source, xstar will get facelift. 1. slight advancement in hull. 2.shortened sunpad for spacier cockpit etc. 3. cockpit changes. 4. punchier engine advancements inc deisel, maybe 2010 or 11... lets see if its true.

True...there is no doubt less is more...see below:
Who strive - you don't know how the others strive
To paint a little thing like that you smeared
Carelessly passing with your robes afloat,-
Yet do much less, so much less, Someone says,
(I know his name, no matter) - so much less!
Well, less is more, Lucrezia.
less is more The phrase is often associated with the architect and furniture designer Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe (1886-1969), one of the founders of modern architecture and a proponent of simplicity of style. (and apparently under powered boats) :)

But then again it was Frank Lloyd Wright, another great American Architect, who said "Less is only more where more is no good!"

True, but what of Thornton Wilder who said:
The less seen, the more heard. The eye is the enemy of the ear in real drama.
