A good friend, new to boat ownership is about to pick up a prostar 205 with 200 hours for $14k. I told him it's a good deal and to jump on it, since it's in perfect shape. Please share any thoughts as he is making the hour drive to pick it up right now. your thoughts.

What would one cost in the UK? My Dad sold a boat a couple of years ago and the buyer shipped it to a lake in Austria to resell. I remember at the time, the exchange rate gave them a handsome profit.

I would say "That" boat in the UK with those hours and condition would be more like £14k (about $20k) easily, It all goes by the exchange rate at the time.
Though in general, Boats and Parts are much cheaper in the US.
There is a couple threads about cheap Boats in the US as appose to the UK or Europe on this site.

How expensive is fuel over there now (per gallon because I have no freaking idea how many liters are in a gallon). :D

That's a steal. He won't be disappointed with the LT1. My 96 just passed 200 hours last weekend, fantastic engine.

Petrol in the UK right now is, nearly £1 per litre, so 4.5 litres to the gallon works out roughly at over $7 US per gallon. not cheap eh...:o

Holy crap, that's what I thought. I've got a friend in Dublin and she's trying to sell her car. It's just too expensive to drive. We're looking at about $2.38/gallon around these parts but it's creeping up again.

That is a very nice boat! Add a tower and that would be identical to the boat I learned to ski and wakeboard behind.
