I remember my first vehicle. 1990 Nissan Truck - first thing I did was put an HO sticker on it! :)

It was $5000. I paid half and my parents paid the other half and then I paid them $100 a month until it was paid off. What a great truck!

Awesome first vehicle. My parents got a new 97 4runner when I was a junior in HS and I was always foaming at the mouth to drive it. I still love that body style 4 Runner!

Nice ride.

1st ride for me was a 1966 Barracuda. Immediately started tearing it apart to put it together like I wanted. Rear tires were 60 series and for some reason would only last about 10,000 miles ;-) "Those babies would smoke!" But of course I also tore 2 rear ends out of it. That was back when anybody could build a hot rod right out of high school.

haha,

i pretty much stole it. the lady that owned it took it to the toyota dealership to trade it in on a new vehicle. they offered her kelly blue book (low) as a trade in and told her if she could sell it for more they would give her 10 days, if not bring it back in and they would pay what they offered:)))

i just happen to be friends with the used car manager there and he was suppose to be looking for a vehicle for me. i called him and told him what i bought and paid and he offered me $1,250 more than i paid so he could sell it on their lot.

now the bad news for my son is his father (me) is his insurance agent. haha

Mine was a smurf blue 77 vw rabbit from a salvage yard. What an embarrassing ride. If I was still dating a girl after she saw my ride, she was a keeper. My wife is a "keeper". I have been driving the same Tahoe for fourteen years. Went to the Chevy dealer last night and she told me we weren't leaving without a Tahoe "and not the one you brought". I picked out a midnight blue LTZ loaded and I would feel guilty if I was not smiling so much. I know how your son feels, tell him congrat's for me.

I know what you mean. I've got a '98 Tahoe with 225K mi on it, owned it since it was new. It's not worth much on the open market. Going to put a plow on the front of it this winter. Just started to rust....will probably do some body work in fall when I have more time.

Bringing up my old thread. 7 years later he has graduated from Oklahoma State University and will be starting his new career in the Dallas metro area. Aric, take him wakeboarding!!

Ps, he bought this 2013 4runner 4wd with only 37K miles and the payments are his. his mom and I gave helped him with a down payment.

Oh and note the original 4runner is still alive and will be going up for sale. only 152K miles.

That's awesome! Congrats to him!

I just sold my wife's 4runner yesterday with 165,000 miles on the clock. I was actually considering keeping it for a daily driver, but the thought of juggling cars made me hesitate. Anyways, 2001 4Runner 2WD SR5 went for $6,000. I think I did well and the high school kid that bought it has a very, very clean ride that will outlast his needs.

funny, I still had two "team mastercraft" ones. he took one before heading back to Stillwater to finish his last two shifts waiting tables at Eskimo Joes.

Man, if the old one only has 13X,XXX on it... keep running it and avoid the "need a new car right out of college syndrome"

PS: I too had that illness...

Congrats to him! Love my 4Runner, 132k and still going strong. Looking forward to many more solid miles to come.

I'm also in Dallas, Uptown, and would be happy to show him what little bit I've seen in my 4 weeks here

I will let him know and thank you.

ps, the 2000 4runner sold in less than one day for full asking price of nada retail. I bet I had 15 emails on it. one guy offered $500 more than my asking price if I sold it to him and not the other guy who picks it up on Thursday. :D:D
